I think you'll like this web page. It has the '10 Most Disturbing Books Of All Time'.

Here is the link: http://www.popcrunch.com/the-10-most-disturbing-books-of-all-time/

Let me know if this did you any good.
My virus protector slapped it virtual condom on for that site.

Told me it was a high risk page trying to make dangerous changes to my computer.

I'm sure that's not what you intended to happen but I'm still not gonna risk it.
Yeah, you are best not too risk it... too bad its like that, was quite interesting. I'll try find a virus free but similar site to link you.

Franz Kafka's "Metamorphosis" - it was fine when I read it; but then it got to me.
"The Judgment." First Kafka piece I ever read. Turned my concept of literature upside down

The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter. Not only was it twisted and disturbed, it was mind-bendingly shit.
Huh. I've always wanted to read that.

I thought "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman was pretty creepy. The drawings of the button-eyed mother and her lone, spider-like hand... *shudder* The movie was actually much less disturbing.

1984. Not a, "oh a monster!" sort of scary, but intellectually scary.
This and Animal Farm, screwed with my head in a way that only George Orwells novels can

I don't read books. I'm 18 and have only read one book from beginning to end in my entire life.

The Room by Hubert Selby Jr. Something about having a guy describe for two dozen pages how he trains men to be dogs by yanking on wires tied to their balls somewhat disturbed me. Luckily I'm pretty disturbed already so it didn't completely destroy my mind.

Beloved by Toni Morrison.
Its a bit like what Silent Hill 2 would b like as a book. Its disturbing, horrifying at times, occasionally painful, and you'll probably love every minute of it.

The book itself wasn't disturbing but I was reading some part of The Spellsinger saga by Alan Dean Foster and in the book it read something like "and the only song he could think of about fire was Pyromania by Def Leppard" and at that exact moment that song came on the radio. Freaked me right the fuck out.

I actually didn't like Animal Farm at all. ):
neither did I(come to think of it I hated 1984 too) both books by the end were extremely depressing even if they were very intelllectually engaging

Stephen King's It. It doesn't seem to be very disturbing at first, just a standard horror story, and then...
11 year old kids having an orgy.
The most disturbing part? We're supposed to be happy for them.

The title says it all.

Name a book that warped your fragile little mind, and tell us why.

I shall start us off:

American Psycho - Brett Easton Ellis

The only book I've ever had to stop reading because it was just too much.

I honestly almost threw up during one sequence involving necrophilia. Even gory movies like Braindead have never caused this reaction for me.

It wasn't the violence but the way it was described... the callous and almost surgical descriptions of what is being done to people...

It felt real, it was unapologetic in its depravity.

And The Ass Saw the Angel - Nick Cave

An amazing story of an ostracised loner and his revenge on the world.

The scenes with the dying animals and the self made Kingdom of Doghead were hard to take.

Share your repressed memories!
I finally got round to reading American psycho last easter and i know what you mean with regards to the complete lack of campassion from Bateman as he inflicts such cruelty on his victims.
You have now made me want to read 'And the Ass Saw the Angel' however.
