Moral Orel Season 3 Episode 4 "Alone"

I'm not sure what happened to cause the tonal shift in this season of the show but it went from a lighthearted mockery of insufferable christian children's entertainment to a dark and somewhat biting satire of the moral failings of the moral majority.

This particular episode focuses on short stories revolving around three ancillary female characters. The segments involving Miss Sculptham and Ms. Censordoll are creepy and disturbing in and of themselves but it's the segment with Nurse Bendy that always leaves me a little uncomfortable.

In the first two seasons Nurse Bendy is treated as a comic relief bimbo character. The running gag is that she's not very bright and that the only reason she's kept around is sex.

Her segment in this episode shows that having been essentially sexually abused through her entire life she's developed a childlike world view of what a happy family should be.

In her private moments she retreats into this "Donna Reed" fantasy using her stuffed animals as a proxy for a loving husband and child.
The whole segment ends with an innocent mistake causing the father bear to fall on top of her in a "suggestive" fashion which just shatters the poor woman's already fragile reality.

The segment ends with Nurse Bendy crying in the corner horrified that her one little piece of security...imaginary though it may be, has proven to be just like all the other men in her life.

It'sa bit of a punch in the gut.
What caused it was Dino's life kicked him in the balls, and he made the fucked-up season 2 ending. Then Williams Street said "holy shit dude, that was awesome. make season 3 as DARK AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE"
They got what they asked for. That's why season three is so short. And it's some of the best television ever produced

I'm a horrible monster, and morel oral season three makes me CRY. I love it

Invader Zim is one of my favorite animated series, and anyone who watched it knows that Jhonen Vasquez is one twisted individual. Most people look to the episode "Dark Harvest" as the darkest, with all the organ stealing.

However, the episode that freaked me when I was a kid was the Halloween episode. Jhonen really let loose his demented imagination with this one. The design of so many creatures in that episode scared me shitless when I was younger.

On another note, I used to think Robot Chicken was a pretty funny dark comedy sketch show. But since the third season, I've seen enough bad masturbation jokes, domestic violence, and enough raping of childhood 80's/90's properties that not even your typical rule34 can compare to.

Indeed. It may be disturbing but it's still some of the best television I've seen in a long time.

I'll admit that Season 3 is honestly some of the best television I've seen in a long time.
The reason it's disturbing is because of how real it is. For all the cartoony nonsense that happens in Orel, its cast is some of the most depressingly human figures ever. The whole show is dark, and once it get worse, it is SO MUCH WORSE. In fact, I immediately motion for Moral Orel to replace The Crow as the ultimate goth video symbol.

Just finally watched Home. I've seen much more disturbing things, and anyone who was freaked out by that never watched movies saturday afternoons on UPN.

Game of Thrones tonight was pretty twisted. Spoilers below, you have been warned.

Scepter, rat torture (I knew it was real beforehand but to actually see it "performed"), and demon baby births...Yeah...

I think it was season four of The Wire. It was the season that followed a group of kids and how life in the streets of Baltimore is for them. The finale of that season had a few heartbreaking moments.

Bodie is murdered only moments after he is given both a chance at redemption and chance to get out of the game. One of the kids becomes a corner dealer. Another is a full-blown hit man. Another is put in a foster home with other kids who all hate him. Presbylewski feels like he failed these kids, despite his best efforts.

There are some bright spots, but it's just the way you see the cycle continue that is heartbreaking. That's the lasting impression.

The X-Files. the Erlenmeyer Flask. At a time when I fall asleep with the sounds of Jason, Freddy and Michael happily slaughter innocent people, this episode kept me up at night.

Also Morel Orel, the one where Morel discovers the wonders of masturbation, but when he finds out its a sin, he finds a loophole around it.

The last 30 seconds of the season 3 finale of Breaking Bad was pretty fucking hard to watch.

Also episode 5 from season 6 of 24. I can't watch the end of that episode anymore.

The fucking look on Curtis' face as he bleeds out having been shot by his best friend....

Animals of Farthing wood was a late 90's cartoon about some animals off to find a new home after theirs is detroyd by humans

The animal that performed this act was appropriately named 'butcher bird', too.

OT: An episode of the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon where you see Hank's face melt off. That show could be pretty fucking dark.

There's an episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex where a US ex-soldier moves to Japan and becomes a serial killer. He kills young (early twenties) women by seducing them, getting them naked then cutting their torso skin off in the shape of a t-shirt. All the while he's forcing the video feed from his eyes into theirs, he also records either his or her view of the ordeal so he can distribute them later. Then he just leaves them to die a slow and agonising death.

It's one of the most graphic and disturbing episodes of that series, but it's also really well made and just... works

I still appreciate that show for killing most of the cast and not talking down to me

To me that would be the Neon Genesis Evangelion episode were Eva 1 came alive for the second time and started eating that Angel.
Oh and also Courage the Cowardly Dog with that curse episode (I don't know why but that ghost thing creep me so much that I left the room).

I'm going with "Hush" from BTVS. Sure there are more graphic, twisted, and terrifying episodes of other shows, but damned if the Gentlemen don't know how to make a lasting impression.
