What caused it was Dino's life kicked him in the balls, and he made the fucked-up season 2 ending. Then Williams Street said "holy shit dude, that was awesome. make season 3 as DARK AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE"Diddy_Mao said:Moral Orel Season 3 Episode 4 "Alone"
I'm not sure what happened to cause the tonal shift in this season of the show but it went from a lighthearted mockery of insufferable christian children's entertainment to a dark and somewhat biting satire of the moral failings of the moral majority.
This particular episode focuses on short stories revolving around three ancillary female characters. The segments involving Miss Sculptham and Ms. Censordoll are creepy and disturbing in and of themselves but it's the segment with Nurse Bendy that always leaves me a little uncomfortable.
In the first two seasons Nurse Bendy is treated as a comic relief bimbo character. The running gag is that she's not very bright and that the only reason she's kept around is sex.
Her segment in this episode shows that having been essentially sexually abused through her entire life she's developed a childlike world view of what a happy family should be.
In her private moments she retreats into this "Donna Reed" fantasy using her stuffed animals as a proxy for a loving husband and child.
The whole segment ends with an innocent mistake causing the father bear to fall on top of her in a "suggestive" fashion which just shatters the poor woman's already fragile reality.
The segment ends with Nurse Bendy crying in the corner horrified that her one little piece of security...imaginary though it may be, has proven to be just like all the other men in her life.
It'sa bit of a punch in the gut.
Indeed. It may be disturbing but it's still some of the best television I've seen in a long time.8-Bit_Jack said:What caused it was Dino's life kicked him in the balls, and he made the fucked-up season 2 ending. They got what they asked for. That's why season three is so short. And it's some of the best television ever produced
I'm a horrible monster, and morel oral season three makes me CRY. I love it
The reason it's disturbing is because of how real it is. For all the cartoony nonsense that happens in Orel, its cast is some of the most depressingly human figures ever. The whole show is dark, and once it get worse, it is SO MUCH WORSE. In fact, I immediately motion for Moral Orel to replace The Crow as the ultimate goth video symbol.Diddy_Mao said:Indeed. I'll admit that Season 3 is honestly some of the best television I've seen in a long time.
DARKEST SKETCH! DARKEST SKETCH!ShogunGino said:Invader Zim is one of my favorite animated series, and anyone who watched it knows that Jhonen Vasquez is one twisted individual. Most people look to the episode "Dark Harvest" as the darkest, with all the organ stealing.
However, the episode that freaked me when I was a kid was the Halloween episode. Jhonen really let loose his demented imagination with this one. The design of so many creatures in that episode scared me shitless when I was younger.
On another note, I used to think Robot Chicken was a pretty funny dark comedy sketch show. But since the third season, I've seen enough bad masturbation jokes, domestic violence, and enough raping of childhood 80's/90's properties that not even your typical rule34 can compare to.
The animal that performed this act was appropriately named 'butcher bird', too.Vault101 said:Animals of Farthing wood was a late 90's cartoon about some animals off to find a new home after theirs is detroyd by humans

I still appreciate that show for killing most of the cast and not talking down to meVault101 said:Animals of Farthing wood was a late 90's cartoon about some animals off to find a new home after theirs is detroyd by humans
