What do you think is the most disturbing moment in a game? It can be any game, a moment where you want to look away but can't, or maybe you just get a little uneasy watching it. Dead Space is full of 'em, as is Bioshock. What do you think?

In Black Ops...
Being in that chamber next to the guy being gassed by the... well, gas when you're playing as Reznov. When it got to his eyes burning, I realised "This is a bit weird, I don't like this".

Dead Space: the disembodied heads walking around, when one of them killed me, I did NOT expect the death animation that followed. . . My jaw hit the floor and stayed there when I saw it.

when Saddler gets an erection and kills Luis with it. You'll only know what I mean if you've played Resident Evil 4.

God of War 3

Kratos forces a slave girl to hold up a heavy gate mechanism. Then, as you walk through the gate you hear her getting crushed.

Seriously Kratos, that was so not cool.

The bad endings of Nine Hours, Nine People, Nine Doors.

The effect was particulary bigger since I got the "necessary ending" to reach the true ending first and was thinking hard on what choices I should take based on what happened before. And I ended getting one of the most disturbing bad endings I've seen in a long while. And then I did everything in my power to avoid that ending and ended up getting another disturbing bad ending.

You know how in those Groundhog Day-like episodes where something bad is going to happen and it keeps repeating that day, with the main hero trying everything he can to stop it only to come out with another bad conclusion? That was the exact feeling I got.

*Obvious game spoilers*

Ethan Mars and the 'finger' scene.

The boss battle in Silent Hill: Homecoming against that big mannequin. I know it's not the best boss in the series, but this one really creeped me the fuck out, especially the music.

The ending to Call of Duty 4. Seriously, everyone dies, and then it's covered up so nobody knows about their heroism? Modern Warfare 2 kind of ruined some of the impact by making a few of them survive, and then making Russia invade America basically for lulz.

The Aliens in the 2010 Alien Vs Predator game. It's the only game in the series that properly represent the Aliens as to what they are - Creepy as hell. It's nerve-wracking in the survival mode as the aliens pop out of the shadows, take a chunk of health, then disappear again.

Ah, what's a "Most Disturbing" thread without Silent Hill 2? In this case, it's the scene in which we see...uhm, how much of a lady's man Pyramid Head is. I'd put up a link to it, but it's kinda NSFW.

Does anybody remember Stroggification in Quake 4? That was one of the most visceral experiences I've ever had in a game, and that game is not exactly a masterpiece in my mind.

I found it worse because the other guy was the player character from World At War
And after everything he did for his country he was just slaughtered like an animal

I would have to go with killing Andrew Ryan in Bioshock or The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3.
For some reason it feels different when the game forces you to pull the trigger instead of just doing it blindly like every other badguy before them.

Bioshock had one great moment, I was walking I saw the shadow of a splicer, i was ready for a fight, the lights black out, when they turn on the splicer has left, I then relax obviuosly the splicer saw me coming and ran for it. so I casually radi the room, I was ready to leave when the Splicer jumped out, I panicked (In real life i was thinking HOLY S#!T) and was firing the automatic like crazy.
I'm most surprised when I'm not on edge, simply focusing on a goal, when something comes out of nowhere like a loud noise, it disrupts my calm.

Doubly worse if you got the "true hero" version of Chernov's diary reading at the start of the final level.
