I'm gonna have to second Still Life by Opeth. God damn is that album depressing.

Another one would probably be Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory by Dream Theater as well.

Um, Death Cab for Cutie's stuff is pretty depressing in that melodramatic sort of way. Except for their newest album, but I still like it.

Hell yes Still Life was depressing, a great album, but God dammit I needed cheering up after that.

OT: Dirt by Alice In Chains, nothing screaming depressing like stories about heroin addictions and suicide!

Ninja'd, but I say that Johnny Cash's later albums were really emotional.
And the way he changed Hurt from a song about self-loathing to a quiet contemplation of his life was amazing.

Also, Act II of The Protomen really gets me sometimes.
Especially "Give Us The Rope" and "Father of Death".

No screamo please guys. Alice in Chains is a band that I have wnated to check out since lasy year. Still haven't bought an album yet...
