At the moment, every boss in revengence!

I played the game on hard at a friends and got to Jetstream Sam killing all the bosses, including body double of mistral and monsoon in one go ... even did Sundowner fight the cheese way without knowing. Now I own the game, I will be buggered if I can parry!

Don't get me wrong, I know how to parry ... push the analogue stick in the direction the red glint comes from and hit light attack, which I do but half the time the attack still lands.

I'm thinking it's my controller, it's not a case of "maybe I did get it wrong, maybe I didn't but I'm so good that it is the controllers fault" it is very much me being absolutely certain I am putting in the right command but it failing me. Like when Sam does his 4 hit combo, I am pushing the stick right at him and hitting light attack ... I will block the first, third and forth or first and fourth or any combo for that matter, might block them all or none.

Biggest bull shit was yesterday, he had a tiny chunk of life, I had a tiny chunk of life, this was my 20th attempt, he back flips over a rock, I do the command to parry ... Raiden attacks the rock! I panic, hit the parry again, ANOTHER SLASH AT THE ROCK! Sam obliterates the rock and me along with it! I go to bed ....
If you are not above a little cheese, it can help to spam parries in Sams general direction. Truth be told, it breaks the fight.

I don't remember their specific names, but a lot of bosses in Dark Souls 2 are pretty frustrating solo. And I don't mean Dark Souls challeng-ey, just plain cheap. One I remember for sure are the skeleton lord bosses, who attack with loads of weaker enemies at the same time. Souls was not really designed for large mob combat and it feels very cheap.

It seems most bosses in the game are basically really hard solo, but trivial in co-op.
I'm gonna have to refute that. Hell, the first actual boss in Demon's Souls was a monster that had 35 regenerating mobs crawling all over it. There's plenty of ways for crowd control, just not all builds are, well, built for it.

Also, I don't know what other major bosses are so hard solo. I only ran into two bosses that ever gave me any major amount of strife in my last play through, and simply changing one item in my build was enough to fix it. And I only play solo.

From the amoung of time it took me to take him down on my own I would say the Smelter Demon in Dark Souls 2. I guess I needed around 20-30 tries? God that was frustrating. Other fights in this series like Ornstein&Smough and lots of other stuff wasnt close to being as challenging for me like that firey demon sh*t :)

Gurdy in Binding of Isaac always gives me a hard time but others find him easy to take down. Other in this game I think are manageable and others hate them. Some just give you a hard time bc you just cant get it right somehow...

I just thought of another boss to add to my original list.. the magma boulder throwing boss from Jak & Daxter: The Precursor legacy.. i don't know how many times I died trying and failing to get through that boss battle.. maybe it has something to do with the controls having delay sometimes, but i gave up after about 10 tries in a row last night. ill try it again, but god did that boss piss me off..

I didn't mean the whole series, but Dark Souls 2 specifically. I didn't even use the online feature in Demon's Souls and almost managed to beat it. I just think there is a huge gap in Souls 2 between the difficuly solo-ing of bosses and the easiness of co-op-ing one. Bosses should have some kind of co-op only group attacks IMO.

It's funny as I read this, because I've just been through the opposite extreme. 2 days ago I've killed the Fume Knight on NG8 in my 92nd attempt. 92. I kept track with both the brighbug consumption and the trips to Majula to repare the batch of Soul Protection Rings.

And yet I wouldn't include him in this topic because most of those attempts were the typical naked 2-handing-a-halberd solo runs, and I never felt frustrated. Once the exploratory runs were done (last time I fought him was months ago on NG) I had his moveset down and an adequate response to each. It was always a matter of executing it correctly and consistently. It was heart-breaking to fuck up near the end and sometimes I'd be very suspicious of the width of his inicial blast to his AoE orbs, but that happened like 3 times. I never once felt raged or bulshitted.

So even though it was a marathon, I'll hold it as great boss design. I'd rate bosses like Elana, Alonne or the Lud and Zallen pets much more infuriating, regardless of how hard they actually were to kill.
