We have all played a game that made us make frustrated noises that made room mates/relatives/spouses check to see what the hell is wrong with you. My question to you is, what is the most frustrating games you have ever played.. And do you think they are frustrating because they are buggy, it was intended, or do you think the game was just flawed in the design area?

Dead Rising starts off as a generous cake walk and then throws you into the thick of everything and makes you die, alot. As if that was not the topping on the cake, there is no auto-save, at all, and you must be at certain places to save.

Mirrors Edge is also frustrating, if only because of the fast pace, the incredible amount it requires you to do leaps of faith, the dodgy collision detection which sometimes fails to grasp you onto pipes and ledges, and the officers on the ground with their mutant super vision. (Reversely, the officers in the helicopter couldn't hit me even if I stood still)

Legend of Zelda Master Quest was annoying as hell for me because I'm so used to the original layouts of the dungeons, and the master quest ones all different (I know they're ment to be that way), many many hours were wasted running around pointlessly going 'it should be there, not over there!' or 'that wasn't in the original!'

Hahah Dead Rising... you forgot to mention the retarded friendly npcs that all have death wishes and do everything in thier power to stop you escorting them to safety, and of course the old spawn of Satan himself, Otis.

My pick goes to Red Ninja, end of honour though. That game was utterly broken, a mortal sin for a platformer.

Most people here already know that Shadow of the Colossus had me screaming at the tv too... wonderful game with some truly infuriating mechanics.

I agree with you 100% on Dead Rising, but disagree with you on Mirrors Edge. I rarely messed up with leaps of faith, and had zero problems with collision detection, and I don't know where your getting this super mutant vision stuff from.

For me though the most frustrating game was Baldurs Gate II, mostly because I kept trying to convince myself bards didn't suck......... they do

Mirror's Edge should've been more like a SUPER-intese Assassins Creed, with slight modifications (and no assasinations, obviously).

Dead Rising makes me angry.

WoW definately has a massive fucking learning curve.

RE5. RAWRG.

"Free Bird" on Expert, GH2. My hands bled for days.

Star Wars the force Unleashed. The game play doesn't really frustrate me. But it was supposed to be the best action star wars game (KOTOR is still the best Star Wars game) but then it turned out to be crap. George Lucas even slapped his sign of it being canon to the story arc onto it. But it turned out to be a very bad story, and the main character is easily forgotten about after the game because no one even mentions him in the movies. Do you know why? BECAUSE THE GAME IS NOT CONAN!!!! If the game is considered canon then star wars has more holes in it then swiss cheese. It was supposed to be great........oh why did this have to happen?

I'll be specific, there were quite a few times I smacked face first into pipes and didn't grab them, I would smack into ledges and then just free fall to the street because I suppose she saw a spider on the ledge I told her to grab.

It took me a while to figure out that I was supposed to go back and forth in time several times for the Spirit temple, so I feel your pain.

Most frustrating for me...Dante Must Die mode in Devil May Cry 3. In that case, though, it's clearly intended, and tolerable in that the game is being genuinely difficult.

Runner-up: Officer creation mode in the original Samurai Warriors. Dear sweet Bob, those training exercises were horrible...

i have quite a few of them. i had moments in silent hill that i was frustrated to hell. The biggest one where I screwed up my entire save file and fucked myself for the end boss was the carousel with the cop....i forget her name at the second but it made me mad..........plus i had two boys(one of them mine) screaming at me to not kill her even though she's shooting at me so i gave up and saved over my reg file instead of the secondary file :( i wanna play through it again and this time NOT do that. End boss frustrated me to all hell too. Sucks when you save at a point where you really don't get more health at least not as much as you need.......because you've used it where you didn't necessarily need to.
Mirrors Edge, I won't play. After watching the boy play it and me screaming at the tv for him....yeah....ummmm
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe did for some of the trophies. and i still don't have said trophies.
One of the flower trophies has me doing that.
Warhawk pisses me off when I'm playing with a bunch of idiots who can't play.

Yup had this problem too. Especially in the indoor areas...

Ninja Gaiden in any incarnation is 'Instant Aneurysm' in game form. Same goes for a vast array of NES games like Deadly Towers, Ninja Turtles, Battletoads, Bionic Commando, etc. Guitar Hero 3 is a more recent example of this for me. Damn Slayer. I beat 'Raining Blood' once and got 4 stars on Expert, but never again. Lou's a bastard too.

I picked up Shinobi for the PS2, thinking "ooh, fun ninja game."

Lack of save points in the middle of levels is major pain in the ass. I looked up the history of Shinobi games and found that they're all hard. Jeez...

And Armored Core gets an honorable mention for Most Frustrating Moment: Climbing up the shaft of moving cubes, where a missed jump is a lengthy fall back to the bottom or, hopefully, another cube not too far down. And even success can still be shattered by the ridiculous boss fight nearby.

So true
also KOTOR was almost painful to play first time around because i made the horrible mistake of going scoundrel-consular
and Star Wars Jedi Power Battles on the PS1 was just as bad because it was just impossible for my neighbor and i to beat the naboo level

There's a massive pile of PSone games I'd put forward for this, but going back and playing them now, It turns out I was just crap at games when I was 10.

Though the final section of Clear sky was pretty infuriating on master difficulty. Rest of the game was pretty easy though (Take out the military outpost at the cordon with a leather jacket, hunting rifle and silenced Pmm? no problem.)
