oldboy and Requim for a Dream. I'm truly amazed nobody has even mentioned Requiem. I read a review once that said:
"This movie is not for the faint of heart as the last 30 minutes will literly physically hurt to watch. You may think your strong but you do not know sadness until you have seen this movie" I didn't really beleive it but after I watched it...well...Damn.
The ending of Oldboy was fucked up. I haven't see Requiem for a Dream but after reading that I may have to.

Umm... The ending of the Kick Ass comic series was pretty fucked up, not the most fucked up thing i've ever seen, but shit i've seen recently...

Not the part where Red Mist becomes the super villain that part was cool. I'm talking about the dad making everything up. The girl Kick Ass likes going out with one of the Jocks that beat him up, giving him a blowjob, and sending him a picture. Oh and that the dad made everything thing up about his origin and shit. Also, the ten year old girl does Coke.

As far as the "WTF is happening?" endings Deadly Premonitions was up there. And the ending of Monkey Island 2 was fucked up in that it made me sad. Although, it's a little less sad in that 3 more Monkey Island games have been made since then.

fight club (the book). i had never seen the movie and had no idea what to expect when i started reading it.
Very true (for both versions), but what's really interesting is to compare the beginning to the end, and figure out just how the fuck you got there. Seriously, you end up in a completely different place at the end, but you never really notice as things start to escalate. Just like the members of Project Mayhem, you fail to notice the subtle change from an underground boxing club on the weekends, to a full-on terrorist group. If you can't tell yet, I'm essentially saying: This^
That's part of the reason I dislike the ending so much; I felt it was just too far out there.

When they properly started doing Project Mayhem I thought it was getting a little absurd, but it kept in line with them doing Fight Club, then having fights with people in the streets and other "homework" projects.

But then they manage to blow up an entire financial district and ruin the world's economy. I dunno, it just felt silly.

The ending to Se7en. I mean, I know it fit with the whole bleak and hopeless undertones which were present throughout the movie, but still - that was just depressing.

I don't tend to get freaked out by books or films. I mean I use Stephen King a bedtime story. But I'd say that the two saddest endings to a book, were Mister God, This Is Anna, and Odd Thomas. I will openly say that I almost cried in shock at both of them, and I'm a dude =/

Ps. I have a 25 book strong collection of Stephen King, including Hearts Of Atlantis, so i really should get down to reading The Mist.

The bad ending of Mass Effect 2. If you were attached at all to any of the characters, prepare to die a little inside. Of course it's pretty tough to screw up that badly by accident...

The end of THE LOST SYMBOL. What was fucked up was that you spend the ENTIRE book guessing who the bad guy is, only to be COMPLETELY RIGHT. fuck you, Dan Brown

Do note that just reading down this post (without clicking on spoilers) will make you aware that there's a twist ending to both the titles I'm mentioning. If that bothers you, skip through this post altogether, please!

Hmm. I've got a few picks for most fucked up ending. I'm crowning them in two leagues. The kind of fucked up that just makes me go "Glbrp? Wha?", and the kind that makes sense, but just makes me go "Ouch. Just, ouch". Spoiler tags for a reason. If you don't mind spoilage, feel free to click.

The Glbrp Series winner: Monkey Island II. I love the ending to this game, it sort of fits the entire absurdity of the series, but let's face it. This ending's weird, and (ignoring rather subtle clues throughout two games) out of left field. For the uninitiated who don't care about being spoiled, well, it turns out that two entire games of daring pirate-related adventure has all been in the protagonist's mind. Guybrush turns out to actually be a young child, playing make believe with his older brother. The Ghost Pirate LeChuck -is- his older brother, and the legendary treasure Big Whoop is... an amusement park ride. It's all been them playing make believe in an amusement park. I wonder where that leaves Elaine...

The Not Cool Dude series winner: Oldboy. I had a bad taste in my mouth throughout the entire ending of the film. I mean, him cutting his tongue out with scissors alone is enough to make me wince. But when the film brings out the heavy artillery, namely that Mido, his now lover, turns out to be the daughter he hasn't seen for fifteen years, and that the entire movie has been the antagonist, squarely aimed to ruin his life and sanity... The bitter sweet ending where Mido find the protagonist and helps him to his feet doesn't really gloss over anything. This ending's just terrible. Will mess up anyone's day, I expect.

I'm going to go with Hackel's Tale... Just because... well... every single fiber of that movie is fucked up. I am a Clive Barker fan, but... Hackel's Tale just went too far... like way too far... and it had no redeeming values. Let's just say it involved a zombie orgy and the "surprise" end involved a zombie baby. I just felt dirty after watching that movie... and I'm going to go so far as to suggest that no one watch it... ever.
Awww, ninja'd. Yeah, you're absolutely right though. There was just...SO much wrongness concentrated into that movie.

OT: Probably the end to The Dreamers series of books by David Eddings. That had to be the single most obvious excuse of lazy writing ever. I'm not even worried about spoiling it for anyone because the entirety of the series is about as predictable as basic math, save for the ending. The ending which, and I'm not exaggerating even a little bit here, sits you down and goes:
"Hey, see this guy? The guy who has no particularly special abilities and is generally useless to the group? Yeah, he's actually the almighty God of Gods who deliberately put himself in a semi-coma to experience what it was like to be human. He squeezes his eyes shut and thinks really hard. The enemy army loses. The End."

The spoiler tag is only there out of a common courtesy.

The ending to David Wingrove's "Chung Kuo" series. The first book was AMAZING - a sci-fi political and social thriller with flawed good guys and noble bad guys (and some just plain bad guys too) and a cool setting and killer conflicts going on. It rocked.

The final book ends with a complete mindfuck into parallel universes to fight the bad guys who turn out to have been giant interdimensional alien spiders all along. WTF?

Farscape.

What. The. Hell? I couldn't even explain how pissed I was at the ending, it wasn't even explained, just...poof. Yes, I am aware of Peacekeeper Wars, but still...I was a confused little child.
