Elfen Lied made a fair impression on me. Maybe since I had no idea what was going to happen, and the last few moments of it were actually a great moment of morality and humanity. Pretty much the entire anime was like that, and I loved it...

I was thinking something similar. At first you really don't think Elfen Lied is going to be anything more than gore and nudity, but there are some really powerful messages that come through in the later episodes and its the only anime which had actually made me cringe in horror (because it was effective, not bad!). So yeah, it definetly left a mark on me!

Since it kinda dead-ends, it's worth reading the manga to get the rest of the story. The only problem I have with the series is that it falls into a repetition of the cycle you've already seen - Nyuu is all nice, then bad people who want to hurt her come along going "Oh noes, she's all dangerous and stuff!", then they attack her and Lucy comes out and butchers people and then the survivors run off going "See, I told you she was evil!".
Rince, recycle, repeat. AT LEAST FIVE FUCKING TIMES.
