Elementary school. We were taught that the American Revolution "sounded the bell for freedom around the world" and "was fought for freedom" when in reality, it was a small colony in the middle of nowhere and what we were really fighting for was the idea that we didn't want to pay taxes to the Brits.

They were actually mad at the Brits for taking away their town meetings, quartering soldiers in the colonists house against their own will, not allowing them their own self-rule. Taxing was one of them, but those are the other reasons.

These actions were taken after the Boston Tea Party, which was intended as a means to incite the Brits to overreact and have the lower class folks realize just how "terrible" the British government was.

By the way, they were one of the better governments that was out there at the time. Also, it wasn't nearly as clear cut as it's typically portrayed. Essentially, we had about 1/4 of the folks who hated the Brits, 1/3 who were loyal to them, and everyone else who really didn't care until what happened after the Boston Tea Party.

We've all had them before, when was a time where you were taught something in school and the teacher said it with the upmost sincerity and confidence, yet you either instantly knew it wasn't true or you later found out it wasn't true?

For me, it's a tie between when my 1st grade teacher told me the Sun rotates and revolves around the planets simultaneously with everything else, (I instantly called her out on that and I was 6.) and when my 8th grade American History teacher told the class that the founding fathers of America wanted it to be a strictly Christian nation. (once again, I instantly called him out on it and even quoted Benjamin Franklin when he said this would be a much better nation without religion.)

No. Tennessee. Signal Mountain TN which is an extremely repressed school that needs to be destroyed. Their bullshit Sex Ed class was the last straw and that was when I got home schooled. All it was was a bunch of stupid abstinence groups telling you about how you shouldn't have sex.

Cursive Righting for sure, they tried to convince us if we didn't learn to write in cursive we would wind up on the streets eating out of trash cans because all the schoolwork from that point on was supposably only supposed to have cursive.

Once I entered high school I was never asked to write in cursive ever again.

Fail, she got the whole class confused and simultaniusly the whole class said "I quit", and then we walked out right in front of her. It was HALARIUS.

Our teacher said that if you wanted to know how big an inch was, use your big toe, if you want to know how big a foot is, use your foot. (she was dead serious)Keep in mind, however, that we are 14, our feet go as small as size 7. Someone threw a sock at her =P

I was going to say Bladderack since that what i use when i go biking and free running hiking. Yes free run hiking. I go on about 3 foot wide trails, run up hills, jump over fallen tree's, run down hill (which at my speed is all jumping and balance), and "wall climb" on alot of corners.

this reminds me of something my chem teacher told us this year. he'd said that the world has a population of 22 million.
i found that hard to beleive as aus has just over 20 and as far as i knew, there hadn't been a nuclear war since i'd last checked. that was the day i started using wikipedia to make teachers STFU. (population was 6.7779 at the time

my middle school science teacher saying that science said bees couldnt fly then following it up with a story about a couple enginers out for drinks and doing some calculations before they discovered that bees shouldnt be able to fly. First off that was an old story going around in the 60s and in all likelyhood is false, and 2nd since when did 2 engineers who know nothing about insects ever constitute the scientific community. And whats worse is this story shows how ignorent that alot of ppl can be of science, since science moves on. So even if the story was true, alot has changed since the 60s. Oh and yes I am too lazy to spell check etc etc.
