"My opinion. (Just that, no qualifiers or explanation)

/thread"

For me, this is one of the most irritating things to read, and a waste of a post. Declaring the thread 'over' because you've given your opinion is incredibly arrogant, and if you do indeed think your answer is the definitive one, then damn well justify it! Don't just say

'FFVII.

/thread'

Because, really, it isn't.

Equally, whenever someone quotes another person, usually making a valid point. The quoter's contribution? "This".. Yes, we've seen it. What about it? I'm fairly sure it's already been seen. You know, the same way you yourself saw it? Quoting someone else and limply acknowledging it does not make it your point, further the discussion, or flatter the person who did bother to think.

Rant over.

Do these annoy anyone else, or just me?

Are there any particular things that people do that annoy you?

"I've lost faith in humanity"

That is the one I dislike the most.

When the OP ends their own thread.

/thread
I kid... :3

It's not so much the forums that annoy me, it's going to happen. The threads themselves are sometimes annoying. You see one related to sex you will see about 5 more of them over the next 3 days, especially if that first thread did rather well. That annoys me a lot.

Splinter posts are a thorn in my side, and not surprisingly, tend to crop up most in arguments. Scattering my argument into component parts does not validate their points, nor does it do anything to demonstrate knowledge of how a coherent, believable argument is formed.

A small demonstration:

"What's wrong with splinter posts?"

You sound a little uncertain. Not so confident now, are you?

Right and wrong? They don't exist, n00b.

splinter posts
Did you coin that term? Where are your quotations? That's plagiarizing!

...See what I mean?

Edited to reflect the surge of 'the last blank you blanked is now blanking your blank' posts a couple of weeks ago. Fully agreed!

I'd like to add to that line, '*social group* is so stupid, they all dress the same and call *my social group* stupid, because they're stupid. My social group isn't like that, we all dress the same and call them stupid because it's cool. /unawareness of irony

The last enemy you killed is now blank. Gladly those threads are dying down now.

Oh God yes. No criticism intended if you yourself were once and offender, but I don't understand at. At least when people type phonetically (which I also despise) you can understand where they're coming from. But I Just Don't Understand Why Every New Word Needs A Capital Letter. It baffles me!

That and also elitist threads, like acting smug against other people who were raised in a different ideology.

OR ALL IN CAPITALS.

Or, when people write "meh" instead of "me". I haven't seen it on this forum but believe me, it exists. Why?

I can't type like that. My hands get really confused! Tell you what though, with the amount of exercise those peoples' pinkies must get from all the shift-whacking, they'd have killer handshakes!

The constant complaining, self-loathing and apathy in some threads.

I know life can take people to very dark places but the lack of positivism in some threads can be shocking.

Also people who drunk post. Please stop that!

don't forget the current trend of dropping capitals so you can look artsy. (or think you do.)

"i can't believe this. these people, are true artists. thank you, everyone. you, are amazing."

...Few things are more pretentious than lack of capitals in conjunction with purposely misplaced commas.

I greatly dislike it when people include in their post things along the lines of "from reading the above comments" when they clearly have not.
