Oh yes that pisses me off so much. It's a cheap way of attacking your opponent, not part of a fair discussion.
Ah, the snip thing makes it even worse! Then, I don't even know what I said that's being quoted.

You could just, you know, click on your name in the snipped post to go straight to the original one. But it was about splinter posts.

Oh, I forgot about that feature of the Escapist. This is the first forum where I've encountered it, and I generally don't think about it.

I know life can take people to very dark places but the lack of positivism in some threads can be shocking.

Also people who drunk post. Please stop that!
I have to agree here, I dislike solely negative, wrist-cutting threads.

"My world is black, and if you are happy you are stupid, and haven't suffered like I've suffered.
If you try to see the light through the darkness, you are naive. "

Seemingly taking it upon themselves to pick apart other peoples positive posts.

1. Religion! Now before I get "internetz raped" let me explain. I have nothing against religion, but I despise religious arguments, mostly because both sides (atheists, Christians, what ever) turn into stupid twats! Live and let live, *****!

2. "I lost my faith in humanity". What does this tell me about you? You aren't edgy, or dark and mysterious! You're a little controllable twat acting "kuul". Even if you truly believe that, you were manipulated into thinking like that.

3. "That blank you blanked is blanking your mom", Zombie threads, Survival threads, repetitive threads, "I hate blank, make me like it"-

4. "My life sucks!" If you can post on the internet about how bad your life is, it's probably pretty good! Shit happens to EVERYONE!!!

5. The depression in this forum.

6. People trying to argue over the internet!

7. KIDS!!! No wait... immature KIDS!!!

Take meat boy for example, he get's cut, bruised, smashed, crushed, shot, exploded, and he's still happy! (BTW LOVE your avatar!)

If someone accidentally posts a thread in the wrong forum, about 20 people will inform them, "this should be in off topic/gaming/whatever"
People who repeat what others have said do my head in. Also people who think they're being original with their jokes when about 50 other people have said it in the same thread.

It's not just on here, mainly on other websites, but I've seen it on here too. If there is a thread about a certain game, maybe if someone is asking for help, or asking what their favourite level someone will always come in just to ***** about it. You see people joining Facebook groups about Justin Bieber just to ***** about him and declare their hate, or people looking up YouTube videos just to 'dislike' them.

This website is a hell of a lot better than most websites though.

Anythread that goes along the lines of "Am I the only one who..."

You're on the Internet, it is pretty much impossible for you to be the ONLY person with the same views as you, the fact that you're asking a forum implies that you genuinely believe other people have the same views, so why make the thread?

Also threads that are made by someone who has no idea about the topic they made the thread about, and still refuse to recieve PROPER information. Again, you are on the Internet, there is almost certainly another person who knows more about something than you do, so why argue?

Other ones that annoy me are: "Why all the hate on.."
The only reason I don't like these is that EVERY time I've seen one of these threads, (e.g."Why all the hate on Black Ops") I have never come across "all the hate" on the subject, so I see no reason to make the thread. People like and dislike different things.

Another thing I hate is people who make really long posts and then do a "TL/DR" bit afterwards.

TL/DR - I'm a massive hypocrite.

When people make threads only for the purpose of saying how much they hate something, seriously you don't need to express it to the world!
(I should note right here this does not include this thread just in case anyone got the wrong impression, no matter how ironic this may seem)

Yeah, especially this, how depressed and stupid must you be to think that the WHOLE of humanity is bad, and has no hope? Jesus more good stuff happens than bad stuff in this world!?! Just the bad stuff gets more media coverage and people take it too seriously and go crazy.

Phlakes said:
The last enemy you killed is now blank. Gladly those threads are dying down now.
I hate those with a passion :p
They just keep appearing when will people get the hint that they are boring, and what goes through there mind whilst posting these repetitive threads?

One last thing: Console vs. PC threads! God what is the point!

"I like consoles better"
*PC twat starts a pointless rant on how the PC is better*

"I like the PC better"
*Console twat starts a pointless rant on how consoles are better*

Seriously! They both play games perfectly well, each have good points and bad points and it is all down to preference! Who cares if the graphics are slightly better, when you barely notice the difference, or if it is easier to use, when again, is down to personal preference!

Anyway, that is my rant over, time to play Fallout: New Vegas :D

Also, the "snip" thing is typically used for really big walls of text. It's out of consideration for other people who just want to read what your post is, without having to scroll all the way through the quoted text that they likely already read in the original post. It's a courtesy, not something you should be annoyed by.

That and also elitist threads, like acting smug against other people who were raised in a different ideology.
What do you mean?

OT: When people demand you to state outright that something you have said (that is obviously subjective) is your opinion.

There's a difference between pretending your opinion is fact, and just saying your opinion and expecting people to understand that's what it is - learn the difference, people!

Mere sucking up to the mods. We're not allowed to think it's a good idea, as per forum guidelines.
Not really - the people who work on the Escapist deserve to be paid for their work, if you're not a part of the publisher's club then you put up with the ads.

I think that opinion comes mostly with common decency, not sucking up to the mods.

I don't want to say "this", since it's another one of the really annoying things people do, but you've pretty much summed up all the other irritating stuff in these forums. So, to demonstrate how annoying it is:

This.

Seconded. Sometimes I think this site needs to get over it's collective puberty. Although recently I rarely see such responses so maybe the world has lightened up. Or The Escapist gave all those misanthropic people muffins to cheer them up. :)

Those people that go into threads just to post "Discussion value?" or something similar. They're getting to be as bad as the "Search bar" guys used to be. I totally get the desire to have intelligent, meaningful discussions on these forums, but when you only go to a thread to make a comment like that, you just come off as kind of sycophantic.
