1. Bethany
2. Merril or however it is spelt
4. Varric
4. Avaline
5. Anders
6. The other people
ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM: Fenris. Here is my experience with him: "Good job killing that mage" "HE DIDNT HAVE TO DIE" *reload save* "He didn't have to die, Fenris" "YES HE DID!" Seriously, he is impossible to get along with.

most liked is Varric and isabela. What? I'm a sucker for likable rogues. they're entertaining to have around in the party just for the chit chat. Merril and fenris were probably my least favourite. Rage monster fenris needs to relax and stop hating the world. Merril is stupid and selfish but convinces herself she's doing what she's doing for the good of her people. everyone else is fine, but man those elves are super lame! well ok I'll say that sebastian is a total wanker too, preachy bastard. I like to hate these characters and I'm hoping that's the point. You're never going to like everyone you save the world with.

I hate Aveline simply because she just doesn't approve of anything I do. How the heck am I suppose to make money and keep high friendship if she just immediately turns around and says "UGH!" every time I accept a job offer?
Just get her to 100% Friendship or Rivalry. Once you are at 100%, the bar locks and you can do whatever you want without having to worry about their reactions. God, I could extort cash from a girl scout and Aveline wouldn't raise an Eyebrow, I have her friend gauge that high.
I would if I could, but I like the Friendship buff better then the rivalry buff. It just seems so much harder to get her up that high when I haven't even beaten my first walkthrough and I don't know where the best spots are for it.
It's not very difficult, the only downside is that you cannot extort cash from people during Act 1 at ALL. Aveline hates it when you do that. Other than that, just be a nice guy. I also would not try to work on Isabela's disposition while you do Aveline's. They're kinda like Morrigan/Wynne from DA:O; whatever makes one happy pisses off the other. Here and there are a few missions where Aveline no matter what will take a hit to her rating, but they're like -5's and there are plenty of +10-15's to offset those. If you really are worried, save before you do quests. Also, be aware, sometimes you get your friendship/rivalry points during a quest, and sometimes you get them for turning a quest in. If you find out that you get Rivalry points with Aveline for turning in a quest, just take her out of the party before you hand it in.

Once I hit Act 2, I did Aveline's companion quest stuff ASAP and had her to 100% almost by the start of Act 2. Act 2 is a lot easier to raise their dispositions as well. And once you have 100%, you can extort folks all you like.

The rewards are for Friendship and Rivalry are a nice touch and all, but don't let it force you to respond to characters just to get them. They don't make that much of a difference. I find it much more rewarding to just respond according to what kind of character I'm playing, rather than saying what I think someone wants or doesn't want to hear. That's why I love Merril as a character despite my friendship continuum pretty much staying near the center the entire time for her.

Just my perspective, though. I think that the best thing about the conversation wheel in Dragon Age 2 is that you don't have to always automatically go for the same response type (like how you're pushed to always choose one of Renegade and Paragon in Mass Effect).

Merrill wins my vote. She is one of the most tragic characters ever and it is relatable because she brought on herself like we as humans often do.

least favorite would be sebastion, he is a fucking prick.

And stop railing on Fenris, his story was interesting and he is not an FF ripoff. You all got that opinion from the internet so next time take the time to learn and hate a character without any internet bias.

I think I like all the characters I felt a little let down by Anders though all his charm and appeal from DA Awakening was gone..but he still had his moments when talking to Varric, he was SOO mean to Merril though...

The only character I guess I don't like is Carver...I played as a warrior so I only had him for about an hour but he just seemed so winy and unappealing that I was happy I didn't have to put up with him for long.

Merill has taken that position and im not even done the game yet. So adorable
Second under her would be Varric, easily. Clever hawke and varric are wonderful to listen to, and I enjoy those little moments where he embellishes the story.

For whom I don't like...
Aveline. Everything I do pisses that woman off  and when I try doing things her way she still isn't happy.
And though I liked him at the start, Anders is really starting to get on my nerves

Just wait for Act 3, and I gurantee you'll hate him by the end. No spoilers, just a heads up.

Most: Isabela, not only sexy but she makes me laugh with idle conversations with like every character.
Least: Fenris, he looks cool imo but god he is not only impossible to please(I have this weird thing that I have to have party members be friendly)

Varric hands down... The fucker is funny. I pretty much liked everyone but Anders; even discounting his original personality from awakening, he came off way too melodramatic for my tastes. In terms of gameplay though, I think I really like Aveline as a tank. My first playthrough was as a sword n board tank (idk i'm weird but I love to tank in every fantasy rpg) so I never used her but now that my 2nd is a mage, her specialty tree is turning out to be wicked. Her sustainable that gives her stacking damage resist looks really fucking epic.

Favorite? Varric, easily, though Isabella, Merril, and (gasp) Sebastian are all close as well.

I have to ask, what's with the hate on Sebastian? Is it because he's "The DLC character"? Hell, I thought he was one of the few generally GOOD people in your party, his backstory was interesting as hell, he was a badass with that bow, and

<spoiler= End of the game spoilers> He was one of only two characters I genuinely felt sorry for (other was Merril...). I mean, he just watched Anders, a team-mate and friend for YEARS, blow up the Chantry, and kill the closest thing he ever really had to a mother, the Grand Cleric. I really felt for the guy, and I couldn't NOT kill Anders for what he did, even though I was siding with the mages.

And the Assassin's Creed-esque armor certainly didn't hurt.

Least favorite? Fenris. He was just an asshole, even if he had reasons for it, that hardly excuses that un-honorable, impossible to please douche.

Merrill, Isabela and Varric tie for most liked. Their random party chit-chat is always entertaining, as well as their commentary on certain missions. Anders was the biggest disappointment and Fenris was nearly impossible to please. Giving him a gift led to a +15 rivalry.

Varric wins the award for funniest and coolest character
Merril wins dumbest and cutest character award
Isabella gets an award being the most experienced in bed character

I don't feel like any other awards need to be given out but I must add that Fenris is way too whiny and he looks like an emo bisexual. Oh that's right. He IS an emo bisexual.

wow a lot of fenris hate, honestly didn't expect that.
varric is definitely the Alistair of DA2. except with more roguish charm.
while i did like Isabella she ditched me because her friendship/rivalry bar was still in the middle and joined me late in act 1 (right before the final quest somehow)
i liked Aveline, she was tough i think she was well built as a character.
i played a rogue so i was with Bethany, shes way better then carver
Merrill i liked her up to the beginning of act 3 but after her companion quest she was back to normal so i liked her again.
don't own the DLC so i know nothing of Sebastian

Is that the one where you have the conversation that's supposed to happen after her companion quest before you actually do the quest?
Probably. Spoiler alert needs to flash across the screen there. So annoying. How did they miss that?

My favorite character is Merrill by a mile. I wanted to kill Fenris when he said, "I'm not sorry she's dead. I'm sorry she died for you." How DARE you sir! (Smack!) Varric was fun too. Everyone else I was kind of "meh" with.
Aveline was just there.
Fenris needed to lighten up and realize that not every mage is a death trap waiting to happen (although you wouldn't know it by the ending of Dragon Age 2).
Isabela is a selfish whore. I HATE this woman. Sure, she has some funny things to say, but countless people die because of her selfishness, she abandons your if you aren't way high on the friendship meter, doesn't own up to her mistakes, yet whenever you deny people their revenge, she gets angry at you. Stupid woman.
I'll be honest here. I never really liked Anders. In Awakening I found him a bit on the annoying side. Where Alistar was witty and funny, Anders was simply childish and selfish to me. I know people disagree. Then his character becomes so blind, so arrogant, so, "It's my way or the FREAKIN' high way," that I really hated him in Dragon Age 2. Yes, the plight of the mages is perhaps a bit unfair. That doesn't mean that the Templars are wrong. There are evil mages that need to be watched you moron! Shut up about, "It's all the Templars' fault." No it's NOT!
Sorry. Went off on a bit of a rant there. So many of my characters I just wanted to smack upside the head.
