This one's kinda tricky, what game have you played that had many, many flaws but was still worth playing?

In other words, what is the worst good game you've ever played?

for me it would have to be neverwinter nights 2- good structure and gameplay brought down by crappy level design, a confusing plot, interface that changes mid-game some times, and the fact that for a roleplaying game, it is extremely linear and you have no real choice over the unfolding story.

Two Worlds, I found it to be completely unplayable. However, the magic system was deep and a lot of the RPG elements were really good. I ended up getting about halfway through it.

Rainbow Six 3 for the original Xbox. Not the best game technically, gameplay was a little flawed, but it was still tons of fun.

Mediocre? When I use the word "mediocre" I normally mean "this game is a dull and bland game", not that it's a flawed game I can still play, because most games have flaws after all.

In that respect I'd choose "Dark Sector", a game that was so mediocre it took me completely by surprise in its banality.

Probably Far Cry 2. Had quite a few problems, but it was still fun.

Also, inb4 Halo.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. It's really a mediocre GTA game and the worst 3-D in the series. I can still play it because it's part of the series that I like and I have every other game from the GTA III Era.

One of the most frustratingly mediocre games I've ever played is without a doubt GTA IV. Dear god. That game was so boring, tedious, stupid, unplayable, and generally shit that I can't understand why it got so many 10/10s.

The most benignly mediocre game I've ever played is probably Darksiders. It was a cheap Zelda knockoff, but you're still knocking off some pretty good stuff.

Hm. Not too tough for me, actually. Two Worlds II. I've picked up several others. Far Cry: Instincts. G.U.N., Brink... Having a rather expansive game library does help expand my options.

Space Hulks - PS1; It still pains me that that was the game to break my PS1. Not MGS, Not CV:SoTN, Not!... You get the Idea.. Also,
AEON Flux - I still beat it though, after misjumping countless times just so my character can die a few minutes after in a cutscene (Did Yahtzee make mention that?)
Neopets The Darkest Faery (I remember it being intentionally misspelled somewhere) Was a fairly lackluster game.
A Nightmare before Christmas: Ooogy's Revenge - DEAR GOD mediocre..
Nightmare Creatures - Hmm
Wargods - Another N64, pretty crappy.
Assassin's Creed - Honestly.
Doom 3 - Too many enemies come out of nowhere and hit you, it's not like you can move as fast as in the 1st 2
I know there are more...

Remember that game that got a ton of hype? That game that looked like it was trying to be truly unique, featuring a ton of play created content and different styles of gameplay? The game that went through delay after dleay, but you convinced yourself it was going to be worth the wait anyways?

Remember Spore?

Fuck you Spore. It's not that bad but it is painfully average. And that's just what this game could not be. I waited to long for it to fail. I convinced myself that it couldn't possibly suck. And it didn't really suck that much, but it was so shallow compared to what I thought it would be. But after a week of playing it and realizing how tedious and limited it really was, I had to face the reality that it was just a painfully average game.

Well, mediocre-wise, Fable. Never have I seen a game try for so much and fail so hard at achieving it.

In terms of "worst good game," I'd say the first Assassin's Creed. It sucked for a lot of reasons, but was awesome proof-of-concept and a lot of fun.

I am going to have to say Duke Nukem Forever. It was a game that tried to throw too much into it at once, the combat felt tedious and unnatural from the very start, the puzzles were copy pasted from other games and the level design didn't wow me until right near the end of the game. I was playing Bulletstorm the other day and I think it would have made a better Duke Nukem game than what DNF was. But it is still a game that I feel everyone should at least play, if only to see that development hell is where this game should have stayed. /endrant.

Sacred 2.
on the one hand, all the story and stuff was told through sprawling text windows that I never read, so whatever the plot might have been, I have no idea. On the other hand, robot Anubis with a railgun.

Has to be Darksiders.
I enjoyed the game to a point. The platforming, combat, and puzzles were pretty bland but I enjoyed the different abilities War could use, some of the exploration was interesting (War's horse was fun) and the story wasn't half-baked. Mediocre but I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Culdecept Saga.

For a long while I considered it to be the worst game I had ever played (I treat genuine bad games like their packages contain the Ebola virus). But for all it's bad qualities (acting, story...), the card game at it's core is a damn good one. It's a game worth playing for that reason alone.

I could also mention Colosseum: Road to Freedom, a solid but flawed Gladiator knockoff, but I don't consider that game worth playing at all.

You know what? I actually really enjoyed these three games. None are great or even particularly memorable but they were all entertaining enough to enjoy.
