Mario. Mario has done everything and been every type of game. There are more Mario games then any other type of franchise ever. Paradoxically even though its the undisputed milking king that makes it better. Having touched everything everyone knows Mario. That's power.

Halo... Micro$uck, let it die already.
adding dollar yen or any other form of currency symbol doesn't prove anything and if you don't like halo fair enough but doing the $ony n?nt?ndo or micro$oft just makes you like like a fanboy of the other companies and its kinda annoying to read it
this whole topic is nothing but fanboys and haters

Nintendo's big franchises like Mario, zelda, metroid, many spin offs, etc.

i will admit zelda is milked too even though i still like those games. i know zelda games have flaws but i don't get mad when it's criticized. i won't defend zelda because i am not a fanboy. i lack understanding why people must defend Nintendo. Nintendo is a big boy it dose not need defense from it's players. it can handle it self

unlike some of those people i say the time line debates are worthless. i just have fun. beyond obvious sequels/connected games (like ocarina of time and majora's mask, oracle of season and ages, and others if there any more are left) i ignorantly choose not to acknowledged the timeline's existence(if it exists) and i am happy that way. if Nintendo hypothetically revealed a timeline and said the order of all games i still would not give a shit.

modern call of duty's (rehashes of cod 4 with tweaks(examples different weapon, more balanced multiplier, etc) for the most part. i admit it they did add nazi zombies but there map DLC's are just stupid

Star wars(george lucas loves money not mush else is left to be said)

sonic(just let it die)

madden and other yearly sports games. not all but many(last years game tweaked and re-released for $60 annually)

halo (if i remember correctly reach was suppose to be the last game but it's not so it will get there eventually if they keep make more)

Anyone say Pokemon yet. They've got over 20 games and of the ones like fire/blue to the latest the system hasn't changed at all.
Well Star Wars beats Pokemon, but it's still up there.

Half-Life. Valve has based all their reputation on one game and have been selling it (and it's mods) ever since.
One game?
Sure they have Half Life 1, 2, and episode one and two but they also have Left for Dead 1&2, Team fortress 1 and 2, Portal 1,2
then of course the mods counter strike and counter strike source, Day of Defeat, and deathmatch classic.
What do you have against using the same engine for other games?

Each company has a flagship franchise and Valve's is HL but they have made plenty of other games and they put enough effort into them that all except for one or two of them are awesome. How many other companies try to do this nowadays? Look at sonic team or look at nintendo with Mario, Microsoft with HALO or the never ending series of "Final" Fantasy games from square enix.

Call of Duty
released essentially the same game four years in a row now! not to mention the map packs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Call_of_Duty_games
15 titles in total

Most things 'Nintendo'
Don't get me wrong, I like Nintendo, but I'd like to see some new franchises.

Mario of course is the most milked
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mario_video_games_by_year
223 titles!!!!!!

Star Wars
You all know what I mean, that franchise has been milked since before most of us were born!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars_video_games
92 titles, not including expansions and cellphone games

Guitar Hero/Rock band
Seriously! not only do they have a ridiculous amount of titles, but they make you buy cheap-quality, over-priced controllers costing several hundred dollars
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero
24 titles
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Band
10 titles

World of Warcraft
Sunk hundreds of dollars into that game myself(initial fee, subscriptions, expansions), got to end game once, enjoyed it, played more end game for a few patches, it just seemed the same to me.... It feels like all dungeons and raids use the same basic formula.

Runescape
No amount of graphical updates will ever make point/click level grinding fun.

Naruto
How many Naruto games are there?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_Of_Naruto_Games
37!
that is A LOT, considering the first came out in 2003!

The Mario RPGs...
Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa whoa. Stop right there.

Those are some good fuckin' games and you know it.

OT: It has to be Star Wars. There is no series on this earth that has surpassed all of the games, comics, books, movies, TV shows, toys and other paraphernalia that George Lucas has somehow ceaselessly sucked from that galaxy far, far away.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Unlike other milked franchises that still seem to be producing plenty of milk (or bringing in the cash as it was), those two were milked so hard that people got sick of them and both are pretty much dead for now (Guitar Hero is gone, Rock Band 3 sputters along with DLC but chances for a Rock Band 4 or any more band-centric spinoffs seem slim). And the way I see it, milked to death is far more milked than something like Duty which keeps doing well.
