Well no, it's not old or has lost it's touch. It evolved, changed, that's not bad in this case.
I think it's got a lot of power left. It's simply a great game
EDIT: SORRY! Wrong thread.
I know a lot of people have said this but I'll say it again.

Mario,Zelda,Metroid. How many times can you do the same game and the mouth breathers still act like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Agreed..
However I won't really called Metroid "milked" but it's on a damn good way to being defined as: "Killed by Milking". I mean with other M and all.. oh yeah I forget we're pretending that never happend!

Already been said plenty of times, but Star Wars and pretty much every Nintendo franchise. Christ, guys, I know that from a business standpoint it's usually good to stick with what you know, but sometimes you have to realize that you have to let go. Same with the Sonic franchise, now that I think of it, although the difference between Mario and Sonic is that good Mario games still get made, while sonic has been dead for years.

first of all, a milked franchise isn't necesarilly a series of bad games based on the same franchise, but games that belong to the same franchise.
For example, I am quite sure that mario games are always different and fun and what not, but it dosn't change the fact that the selling point is that it is Mario!.
The same goes to Final Fantasy, even if the games are not bad or are different or anything! They are still final fantasy!.
and now, more OT:
Mario
Final Fantasy
Halo (not for the games, but for the rest of media that appeared after them, only trying to get mony out of them)
Star Wars.
Sonic

Pretty much Star Wars, CoD, Guitar Hero, many sports games, and mostly Sonic. At least with Mairo, they still churn out good games and Nintendo doesn't rely on him all the time while with Sonic not so much and its Sega's main cash cow more than anything they have under the belt. Not to mention I'm still interested in Mario and other Nintendo games, but lost interest in Sonic games altogether.

The sims, the amount of expansion packs for the first one alone is more than most game series, some more would be mario, zelda, final fantasys (as much as i like them after 11 they all sort of went downhill).

Mario/Star Wars and anything Nintendo produced, to be honest. Doesn't mean they're bad, but GOD they have been milked.

Also MegaMan.

I'd say it has to be between either the Star Wars Franchise or Mario Franchise with possibly Zelda?

Tie between Halo, Call of Duty, a Final Fantasy.

and side note: Star Wars will never die, you cannot milk a franchise to death if it's already immortal.

Star Wars and the Mario series. Both have had some excellent games, but crap to excellent ratio is rather poor.

Mario. I refuse to even think about buying nintendo products, because of their obsession with the little t**t!

Call of Fucking Duty. It's the obvious choice, really.

More obvious choices, but less hate driven, are probably Mario or Sonic and probably anything Disney.

Film wise - Star Wars
Game wise - Mario

Don't get me wrong, I love the Star Wars movies (all three of them), but all the fanfiction about them that George Lucas has been cranking out since 1983 is insane.

And Mario, I love Mario and I think everyone does. But really...Mario GOLF?! Seriously, Nintendo? Not to mention every platformer after Super Mario Sunshine being Super Mario 3 all over again...

A lot of games mentioned here have a lot of sequels and spin-offs, (Zelda, Halo, Mario) but at least some effort was made with those and they often tried something new and original that kept them fresh. But if we're talking 'milked', as in wrung dry and beaten to death, then that would be -

Guitar Hero and Sonic the Hedgehog.
