Yet to meet a soul that has heard of The Birthday Massacre.

... Maybe that's because I'm antisocial...

I had to double check Wikipedia to make sure that you were making the joke that I thought you were making. Your comment is totally true.

Best totally obscure band: PAIN. One-man industrial metal project by Hypocrisy frontman Peter Tagtgren. I feel like I've been bringing this topic up a lot recently...

Oath Of Allegiance. They are on myspace but the one recording they have on there doesn't do them justice. The mixing isn't very good and they have since sacked the singer. They're incredible live.

I actually do know a guy who has a band called The Articles of Confederation.

In their songs they sang quotes from the Articles of confederation. It was the funniest thing ever.

I'll add Odin's Ravens.

A Sunny Day In Glasgow and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum are probably the most odd groups I listen to.

I do not. I am currently in Conneaut Lake PA (don't bother, it doesn't show up), but up until recently, I lived in Duluth, MN (Which will show up) and the "Great White North" was only an afternoon's drive away...long story short, my buddy Andy came home with the self titled album and we all fucking loved it.
I'm from Minnesota too, currently in UT, which is a sad face, and I have to say that despite being an obscure place the music scene is bad-ass. More then half the music in my collection are homegrown Minnesota bands.

Jolly Rogers. Like pirate music, and some of it has sexual undertow... Very interesting.

Any other unknown bands would probably be unsigned... Third Union, Marazene, 216

Ok then I can mention some bands you'd probably know if you're remotely connected to the underground metal scene... Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Dark Tranquility, Chimaira... The list is waaay too big...

That I am. They were playing here in Ontario a few years ago. Have you really heard of Abolishment of Hate? That was quite possibly the most obscure band I made reference to. Well unless you live in Toronto or something.

It's a one man project by Jeff Lewis released in 2001. He's releasing another one with Sheldon D'Costa, it's called Incursion. I don't know if it's released or not... But I can't wait for it.

In case you didn't know. ;)

Sorry about double post, seemed wrong to stuff it all together.

It being a solo effort I did not know about...he's like the death metal Michael Cretu...awesome. Also did not know there was another one coming out, thanks for the info!

I dunno... I haven't met a single Canadian who's heard of Matchbox Twenty. *shrug*
im not Canadian, but i can tell that they made an annoying pop song that made it big here in Denmark

Vesperian sorrow is pretty obscure, and it is the best symphonic black metal i have ever heard

Listen to some of the clips. Sounds more technical than Abolisment of Hate. It will be twice as long, too. Onslaught is kickass.

Try the band Hurt. So far the only people I know thats heard of them is me, and my one friend......

There real good though, I suggest the song "Falls Apart" and if you can find the acoustic version than bonus.
I saw them in concert awhile ago, they're quite good. "10 Ton Brick" is a sweet song :D

A couple bands I know about that are probably pretty obscure (at least to you guys) are:

Dead Season, a local band (Maine). Metal... of some sort, metalcore or something, maybe?

Scissorfight, from New Hampshire. Pretty much the same as above, I guess. They're both pretty good bands.

Deadlock, I don't know how popular they are in the rest of the world, but in the US they aren't popular enough. The one really amazing band I'm surprised no one knows...
