Also, the most underpowered weapon is whatever weapon I happen to be using.
I think this about sums it up and can be applied not only to shooters but also to any game. Characters, strategies, etc. This will always be what decides it in most peoples eyes.

So, then the most OP weapon is THE HUMAN MIND.

And if you're ever killed by the same gun you're using, I'm pretty sure a singularity would form.

OT: I did ever so love the four barreled rocket launcher in the original Killzone. Just having four shots in a rocket launcher is overpowered enough, but when you add in the ability to fire all of them at once as smooth-arcing mortars, well that's just all kinds of fucked up.

Awesome, but fucked up.

The Commanders D-Gun from Total Annihilation. No unit that got hit can survive, it's insta-destruction. Ya know anything that can destroy a super battleship and two heavy cruisers behind it is pretty dammed op.

This sums it up pretty good for COD though.

Super Metriod - Hyper Beam
you don't get it till the end for a reason, its a one hit kill on EVERYTHING that isn't mother brain, and mother brain has absolutely NO chance against you

Mega Man 2 - mother fucking METAL BLADE
energy usage? next to nothing
pwnage? one can practically count the enemy's it doesn't work on with 1 hand
boss pwnage? wreaks flash mans, wood mans, bubble mans and metal mans, that box combiner boss in the castle >.> i think that's every body ....
firing angle? up, down, up/left, up/right, down/left, down/right, left, right.

Shadow Hearts - Dark Sarephim/Tirwana (and to a slightly lesser extent Amon)
the ultimate transformations, only accessible if you max out all the other transformations, AND beat it in a boss fight, and in Shadow Hearts 1's case, a decent lengthed side quest. gains? there is a good, and i mean GOOD reason you don't get these the VERY end of the game, calling them over powered is an understatement, you literally become the hand of death, you take far less damage, dish out stupid amounts of damage, have a heal >.> or buff ... (been awhile since i played, sue me) good thing there's no new game plus mode that lets you keep em if you start over ... oh wait ... >.>

The Soul Ripper in Supreme Commander.

-It can survive getting hit by a Strategic Ballistic Missile.
-It can fire on any target in the game,EXCEPT Tactical Cruise Missiles,Strategic Ballistic Missiles, and a sub-orbital sattelite.
-It FLIES
-As a gunship,it can hold position in flight
-It's a fairly cheap to build Experimental (grossly overpowered weapon)
-It builds fairly quickly
-And finally,I'm fairly certain it has more guns mounted to it than any other unit in the game.

So,let's recap.

It can FUCKING FLY. This means it's incredibly mobile. It's a gunship, which means it can HOVER IN PLACE. While unleashing all sorts oh hell on you. It can survive a DIRECT HIT from a nuke. It can fire on anything that isn't a missile,or IN SPACE. It's easy on the wallet (like so many other Cybran units),and builds quickly. Which means swarms of them very quickly. Finally,it has lots of guns, which equals an insane damage output. The only thing that keeps it from being broken ENTIRELY is that it can only be built once you have a T3 Engineer,at least.
i like the cybran battle ships more, and i tend to spam them, its pretty effective to(for everyone else, think normal battle ship, but it can walk on land, lemme repeat that, IT IS A LITERAL FLOATING BATTLE SHIP THAT CAN WALK ON LAND) but i agree, Soul Rippers suck en mass, should really use em more then i do >.>

The PRL in Resident Evil 4. You could clear out all the enemies in a room with a single, fully-charged blast and look like a boss (Megaman) in the process.

Runners up are the Lightning Storm from inFamous and the Tranquilizer Gun from any Metal Gear Solid game. Seriously, I'm not joking.

If ammo can be ignored, I'd say the Redeemer (I think that's what it's called) in Unreal Tournament is the most overpowered weapon I've ever seen. Primary fire, a huge fucking nuclear blast that kills just about everyone on screen. Secondary? Homing huge fucking nuclear blast that you control to chase someone down JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE DEAD AS SHIT.

If someone rushes you before you get one though, it's useless. Obviously.

I found the Czar insanely OP.

It's a giant flying saucer about the size of a city, with a massive laser beam cannon that fires straight down. Anything directly under it dies. It's not as good against air units, but it's an air transport so it can hold fighter jets and gunships to take care of threats. Finally, if it dies it doesn't just explode and vanish, the giant city-sized corpse (complete with nuclear reactor) drops out of the sky and crushes anything beneath it. That's right, its corpse is as effective a weapon as its cannon.

This makes it an ideal weapon for assassinating Commanders. The swarms of fighter jets take out any transports that the commander might be using to escape, they can't run out on foot because of the giant deathray and bunkering down under shields is useless because of the death-corpse.

That actually is mostly true in Black Ops. Normally I'm taking on Famas spammers with nothing but my trusty Olympia.

Which is why I go for Metalman first.

The Ry3no in Ratchet and Clank Up your arsenal. At level one it spams a shit ton of rockets which alone is OP. level 2 it spams homing lasers that disintegrate all that touches, then at level 5 it becomes the Screen cleaner when it makes a little ball and in a flash does MEGA damage to all enemies on screen at the time. At levels 1-4 it is the boss murderer, but after that it get pretty useless on bosses.

halo 1 pistol easily the most overpowered pistol :pPPP
No wonder they nerfed it in Halo two. Could you imagine someone dual wielding those monsters?
Yeah, it'd be pointless. You only need one. The other would be to destroy the corpse...
The gun required 4 headshots, so the second would still halve the killing time. 2 seconds instead of 4.

The rocket launcher and the sniper rifle were both better than the pistol in Halo 1 though. I never saw any pro games where those weapons were ignored simply because players spawned with pistols.

Want an unbalanced weapon? How about the sword of ages from Fable 1. That thing was a beast.

Having played WoT a ton recently, I have to say the Type 59 is over powered. Fast, deflects a lot of shots from tanks from similar tiers and having a gun with a high rate of fire and penetration value...

Screw them. Premium, spending real money for a F2P game jerks XD

All Directional Multi-purpose Missile (ADMM) from Ace Combat 6

It fires 12 missiles simultaneously that then very accurately and quickly home in on their target, up to 12 targets at once. It can target air and ground targets at the same time, and put into the description of the weapon is the quote "turning the tide of battle with a single shot". It was even disabled for online use.

[sub]I think you mean I make a great team[/sub]

Well, theres a lot of weapons I consider overpowered in Dead Rising 2 Off the Record, but the one that really takes the cake, for me at least, is the broom-machete. It sounds weird, but it has an incredibly high durability, has a surround attack that instantly kills any zombie around you, and gives a whopping 150PP on starting levels. That, as well as the parts are somewhat easy to come across.

The latest ryno model in the Ratchet and Clank games, they're either room clearers or boss murderers all around. The Natascha in Team Fortress 2 is also pretty OP.
