Halo.

Now that that's out of the way, I also thought Lost Planet was extremely overrated. It just felt extremely basic to me, wasn't all that fun, didn't have a particularly interesting story or interesting characters. And then I started to hear things about them making a Lost Planet movie and was at a loss for words... Eh, I guess I just don't understand the love.

Aww, what is wrong with big over-musciluar (Spelling?) men with big guns, legs thick as their arms and almost no sense of humour (Cole Train though, OWNS!) and only seem to like mindless violence?

Wait....

Final Fantasy 7, that didn't amaze me after all the hype. Everyone keeps going on about the great story and the great characters but I really don't see it. The characters don't have any interesting traits except that sometimes Cloud tries to be a bad boy and everyone keeps saying the story is amazing because Aeris dies in the end and it was sad, I never liked her anyway. And of course the gameplay was average, being turned based it really isn't anything special plus their was still alot of chance involved.

Personally? Pokemon Platinum, even IF I love it, there just something about it that irks me. Its just like Diamond and Pearl in the long run with more extras is all...

and a long ass list. Yayz.

FF7: Too shallow of a story and one characters story > than the others even the main villain (Who never actually did any of the shit he did btw) makes the story even more shallow.

GTAIV: Its exactly like every damn GTA game only you get a cell phone to make things more linear and easier.

Fallout 3: Its massive on its own, but when you need DLC to get more out of it...

Anything made by Rare nowadays: Lets face it, Rare isn't what it was in the past. The perfect example is Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts which strangely took everything we knew and loved about the bear and bird and basically skewered it with a simulation builder. The good news? Stop'N'Swop is back thanks to Aracde for re-releasing Banjo Kazooie and Tooie. Kazooie and Tooie are by no means overrated and I think they are potentially underrated given what is out here today compared to 1997 or 2000.

Metal Gear Solid 4: I dub this more of a movie than a game. Why? 30 min into scene with even longer cut scenes. Popcorn?

Little Big Planet: CHECK IT OUT GAIZ, I CAN MAKE A LEVEL AND SUBMIT IT...WHA? MY LEVEL IS GONE?!???!?!?! NOOOO. It also tried to be the "Super Mario Bros" of this generation, only to be forgotten months later with a failed level editor.

Super Smash Bros Brawl: This game suffers from "Too much" syndrome, in which the game offers you too much unlockables with horrible balance issues in the cast.

Super Street Figher 2 HD Remix: Longest name in the world, yet the game is still unbalanced to hell and back. How you ask? Evo is banning Akuma, for the simply fact that the RD has a glitch and he also has a 100% combo that dizzies on all of the cast. Some characters are still useless against others even without Akuma however.

Any Tales Game: Tales games are all the same anime shit we have all scene before. I've played one Tales game... one is enough.

Street Fighter 4: Lets pretend that the console version characters (minus Akuma) don't exist for play right now. You have of the most balanced fighting games out there today right now. Now put every console character back in. As an unlockable including the boss character who shouldn't be playable because he can do insane shit mid-screen away from you. The result? A sort of imbalanced roster that is becoming more unbalanced by the day as more games for this are being played. SF4 still has potential however, if a new version is announced, hopefully with better balancing for the console characters and Gouken and some tweaks to the higher tiers here and there.

FF7: Aeris dies, Sephiroth dies, everyone in Sector 7 dies, everyone in Midgar dies at the end, my childhood dies. There. I just saved you 30+ hours.

Any FPS released in the past 8 years: Step 1 - Shoot. Step 2 - Lather, rinse, repeat until dead. Step 3 - Shoot yourself.

Kingdom Hearts as a series: OK, we had 1 and 2 and were happy. Yes, there was a card game for the GBA. That's no excuse to REMAKE IT FOR PS2. And what's with this 358/2 bullshit? KH is a weed that needs some RoundUp.

WoW: I played the 14 day free trial. It was good, I liked it. Then when I told my friends about it, they tried to lure me back in. I honestly have better things to do with $180/yr.

Pokemon as a series: Another that I'm playing and enjoy, but it's just gotten too competitive. If you don't have a Breloom/Garchomp/Gyarados et al. with certain stats and moves, you're screwed. And just when you finally can catch them all (thanks to a global trade system) the competitiveness goes through the roof.

Super Smash series: Yes, we all know you have certain rules for getting your ass kicked, tourneygoer. Certain characters are banned, certain stages are banned, and all items are off. Problem is, you're at my house and that's my GameCube controller with the steel nib. Think your thumb's hardcore enough for it or would you rather play by my rules that are meant for fun instead of competition? I thought so. Now pick up your Classic Controller before I kick you out.

WoW. It's all right, but after playing it for a few months, I've never really found a reason to sink $30 into another game card so I can grind some more. If it were a singleplayer RPG it would be completely fucking awesome, but the way it is--no.
If it was singleplayer, it would be horrible. The fun of WoW is playing with other people.

WoW is what you make of it. If you have RL friends to play with, a maxxed out character, and a progressing raid guild, its a blast. If you're soloing murlocs with your level 17 priest it may not be worthwhile. $15/mo is perfectly reasonable if you play 10-15 hours a week and enjoy it. WoW is unique and substantial, and when it comes to MMOs, it is "the real deal".

"Over-hyped" doesn't mean "I don't like it but other people do and I think they're wrong."

It means the publisher advertised it as being some amazing revolutionary game, when it really was just another shooter.

Like Halo.
