what? what? it is the story of superheros from a perspective that makes you think "hmm, maybe there isn't a straight line between good and evil". how did it make you not think?

also the second two matrix movies sucked
I was bored and confused for most of the film. 'Why was Dr Manhattan Blue?' was something I kept asking myself - and then I found out it was because of a nuclear disaster. How original! I really don't think the superhero film can thrill me because the plot is always unoriginal and the characters are usually poorly developed. In the case of Watchmen I had no idea who I was supposed to care for for the majority of the film, and that makes it hard to watch when you don't empathize with the characters.

Donny Darko.
All these people talk about how deep and amazing it is, and it wasn't either of those things.
It was bland, boring, and pretentious.
Donnie Darko wanted you to THINK it was deep and amazing.

Mine is Napoleon Dynamite. I saw it after it had made it big, after listening to all of my friends rave about it for months.

I don't think I laughed once.

Most overratted?

Probably Napoleon Dynamite. It has grown on me, but the first few times, I really sat there alternately thinking: "I should like this, but I just cant" and shaking myself awake.

Have any of you seen Valkyrie? Good film, but nor exactly accurate, and the boom oporater let the microphone fall into the screen twice. he should be slowly torn apart.

I think anything written by Frank Miller. Yeah, he can make comic books, and he directs okay, but someone should smash his hands with a paperweight until they break because he can't write decent movie dialogue worth a twat. I get that some directors like to have control but don't cripple a good story with dribble onscreen. You show, not tell a story to the audience.

P.S: I'd also have to say Quantum of Solace. I've watched it three times, I still don't get it. I don't sympatise with any character despite them being established in the much more interesting Casino Royale. I can't even properly explain the plot because it's so absurd that Capcom probably came up with it. The theme song is the worst I've ever heard from a Bond movie. Off-key RnB + Bond = Bleeding ears!!

House Of 1000 Corpses, what a pile of shit. The only thing I can compliment is the set design, that's it.
I thought some of the costumes were pretty neat, and the puppets :3
Nah I'm sorry, not buying it.

It was way too cliché throughout, basically shouting "Hey, if you're a goth, punk, metal head, emo kid or anything that isn't seen as main stream to you (although you ARE); you should watch this because we justify killing trendy kids whilst Rob Cummings Zombie runs out of ideas for transitions between scenes and just cock-slaps together another half assed almost music video scene with a full song of his.

Sorry, it was lazy, cheap (not in a budget way) and just generally poor. It was like some goth kid's parents had made it for their child's birthday by fulfilling the step-by-step goth/metal-head cliché book to it's entirety.

It's just one of those names you can drop to get in with that crowd really. Like mentioning Marilyn Manson, Shitknot or Disturbed. Walk up to a group of "Alternative" kids, say you like those 3 bands and this piece of shit film and you're pretty much guaranteed to be just as alternative as at least half the group and make friends.

Dark knight in that I just preferred Jack Nicholson as the joker

Walle though I expected it was going to be a little bit poor

2001 a space odyssey as I didn't realise there was literally no plot except for the soundbites I'd heard already

Quantum of solace for the shite plot

Cloverfield for making me feel sick because of the stuid idea of 1st person viewing

Doom the movie........... I have nothing to say

The hitchikers guide to the galaxy.........WHYYYYYYY!!!!??????!!!!!???? (42)

There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men mostly because they just didn't go anywhere at all. I've always hated this time of film, the kind of film that just stops caring about the audience.

Now this may seem a little pretentious, but I never cared for The Godfather. I'm not saying it isn't a very good film, but for me nothing about it made me feel it deserved the No1 film of all time label it's been given, as opposed to Pulp Fiction's time-warp technique and edgy new ground, and Fight Club's strange new ways of thinking and shocktwists.

Please, people while I realize the thread is pretty popular and you're all just waiting to speak your mind I have to remind you that the topic is not "Worst film ever" but "Most overrated film" you have ever seen.
There's a pretty big difference.

Titanic easily, 11 oscars and a worldwide boxoffice of $1,8 billion for that piece of crap?
Agreed, but maybe it's because I'm an emotional rock and I don't respond well to tear-fests. And Titanic is clearly a tear-fest.
Titanic, were it a novel and not a film, would be a drug store Romance Novel and nobody except lonely housewives and "Smart Bitches who love Trashy Novels" would have heard of it.

Titanic was only successful because it was a cheesy romance novel plot turned into a film with a mega budget.
Maybe you just have to be a girl because I liked it! Humph! Men! :p

And I will go with napoleon dynamite... funny movie... but having heard my friends quote it almost contiuously and so much more funnily (thats not a word haha) for a whole year proir to my seeing it, I was disapointed...
