Videogames are overrated. All they do is train terrorists and murderers anyway.
Wow, that was one of the most ignorant things I have every heard.
*Sighs deeply*

Look, if one more person quotes me seriously on that, or sends me one more "OMMMMGGGGG WTF" message (not that the quoted did that, mind) I think I'll lose all hope in humanity.

IT WAS A DELIBERATELY FACETIOUS REPLY AS A COMMENT ON THE INANITY OF THIS THREAD. WOULD I REALLY HAVE CLOCKED UP OVER A THOUSAND POSTS IN WELL OVER A YEAR ON A GAMING WEBSITE IF THAT WERE MY TRUE OPINION? Jesus.

well let me explain my name first: yes i do agree with yahtzee a lot, but the name is mostly because i suck at making screen names. second: i have played a lot of JRPG's becuase my brother who is a huge gamer and a huge fan of them would always buy them and so i would for just the hell of it play them and i hated all of them
You can say that you at least don't like them but just because you do does not mean they are all over rated.

whatever forgive my choice of words now lets stop this so i dont have to keep checking my inbox

The most overrated game of all time, in my experience, would probably have to be Tic Tac Toe. Poor graphs, no story and uninteresting characters (Just X and O) and yet it is world famous. No justice.

There was a time when I would have said Modern Warfare 2 but then i played it. It's fucking awesome.

It's a wretched, misleading pile of shite.

This thread makes me sad, because I see how people hate my favorite games. But then, I remember that I don't give an ass kicking flying shitty fuck about other people and their opinions (I respect them, but that's it!)!

I'd say Halo. Never played it, but from all the crap I've seen, I really don't think it deserves all the praise it gets. I hope I hurt someone's feelings with that statement :D

The entire Half Life series.
I second that. while fun, the "Realism" is killed whenever I get my 16th gun and am still able to run like a 5 year old on heroin.

Okami. Above average Zelda clone with a pretty spectacular visual style. Not the best game like, ever, as most people have tried to convince me.

To those saying anything including the words "the entire series" (or words to that effect) I'd just like to say that generally the first game in a series gets very little hype.

For example, I didn't even hear of Halo until after the first one had been released and people started talking about "Halo beaters". I picked up Mass Effect off of the shelves of Game due it being only £20 in a sale not long after release, despite hearing nothing about it (used that one because all of this ME2 talk has it fresh in my mind). From an earlier post it seems like Portal had the same sort of thing going on...it being discovered due it being an additional extra to the Orange Box.

FFVII, Not as good as six, after six they are all pretty bad, although XII gets points for originality

Historically: FF VII - A lousy story with a bad villain (sorry, girls) only made worse by craptastic translation.

In recent Memory: Dragon Age - A hyper-rendered Baldur's Gate with sex scenes. Whoopie.

final fantasy all of them
the only reason I played them was because back in the day my friends were into
them so we would all go over to someones house and play them and at the time the
game only had text so I would do all the voices with comical accents
this was the only entertainment i got from those games!!!

Modern Warfare 2. In most recent memory, I'd have to dig around in the vaults of nostalgia to find another one but it takes ages. I won't risk saying Halo.

Your favourite game is unworthy of the praise it gets, and inferior in quality to my favourite game. Your preferred games all suck a big fat donkey's left nut compared to my preference in games, and you should probably just crawl under a rock and wait for the wolves to come for you instead of persisting in polluting my internet with your faulty opinions and misguided choices in entertainment.
