Most overrated games and game series......

Super Smash Bros Brawl.

More unbalanced characters, new average to aggravating platform gaming, and slower controls. Played it once with a friend and entirely lost interest in it.

Of course that may also be because Cap'n Falcon feels as slow as Ganondorf.

Well, even though the first thing that jumped into my head was halo, Rockstar can take a hit for once.

There is no way GTA 4 is the "greatest game ever", so I fail to see why it gets the honorific, or statistical best game ever on heaps of review websites. That's just bullshit.

So most overrated? GTA 4.

I think Final Fantasy is a bit overrated. I love Final Fantasy I and still play it from time to time. I also kind of like Final Fantasy IV as it's a pretty descent port of the original game too. The best part about FF IV is that it shows how great graphics can look on the DS if they are done right. The rest of the FF series is not very good in my opinion. I have played every Final Fantasy game to come out except the two very newest ones. I still prefer FF I to all of them. The rest stray so far from what made FF I unique that I don't like them very much. Plus I can't make heads nor tails out of the weird stories and characters in any of the FF games.

The movies, while looking awesome graphics-wise, were terrible stories that didn't seem to have much to do with the games. They had weak plots and were not interesting aside from the visuals. They are like really long FF game cutscenes.

I love turn-based strategy games in general, but I think the FF series is overrated and over done. I'd rather see a Disciples III game for my DS instead of another FF game.

Devil May Cry...I'm sorry but are we really supposed to believe Dante is cool? Not buying it.

Dante is the Vin Diesel of video games (except for the actual Vin Diesel of video games in Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay). Sure, he may try to hard to act cool, but atleast he kicks the asses and takes the names.

As for me... World of Warcraft... God. Boooooooring. And don't get me wrong, I love a good RPG, but God. So unimpressive to have all the hype it gets.

Of course the Halo series is WAY overrated same with World of Warcraft (and yes i played it for 4 years now) but what i think takes the cake for most overrated series is between Zelda and Final Fantasy

Well im suprised that no one has said "any of the Madden games". serously, everyone made this giant hoopla about Madden 09 and there were massive lines outside of best buy and blah blah. ITS THE SAME FUCKING GAME EVERY FUCKING YEAR!!!the differance? different players and somewhat tweaked graphics. It is the poster child of lazy game design.

Big thing this year for every one though was the new Tron tutorial and graphics that are now "current gen" instead of last gen in HD and don't forget the completely accurate cover athlete retired Green Bay Packer Brett Favre.

Mass Effect: Craploads of boring dialogue, cardboard cutout characters(except for the tech girl and the lizzard merc), identical weapons, repetitive quests and maps. Also i've noticed that most of the maps are just long tunnels or big rooms, always limited in some way or another. The thing that irked me the most was the moment you put "action" in front of your game description, you really should cut the dialogue down a notch.... How the hell DID this game get 95% anyways?

The GTA series. Only because when another game tries to use the sandbox genre, it won't get good scores in its reviews or it's reviews will sound negative because its constantly being compared to GTA. Also, Half-life is overrated, because playing as Gordon Freeman is dull. The only fun part is running around with the crowbar.

Really, threads like these only irritate fans of said series. You think they are overrated because you don't care for them, but the fans may not see it that way and may even find them underrated in some cases.

So really, just stop with these threads and I hope this gets locked. No Offense to the OP, we all can learn, but this really does nothing but start poo-flinging wars that just ends in people on probation or banned.
