Well, it's that time of the day again. I got bored. When I get bored, I like to write stories, or talk about random shit with people who listen. So I figured I'd might do both. Long story short, what do you guys feel the most painful and/or horrible way to be executed or die would be?

I've had to put some thought into this before (story for another day) and my top 8 would probably be in no particular order:

1. Being embalmed while still alive. The fluid rushing through your veins would be excruciatingly painful while it slowly saps the life out of you.

2. Being crushed by a steamroller. You can feel it squeeze your innards out of your body like a tube of toothpaste

3. Being flayed alive. Because being pulled out of your skin is just fucked up.

4.Oxygen poisoning.

5. A brazen bull. Essentially its an oven with a microphone.

6. Death by firing squad, specifically, being shot from the ankles to the head in the hot summer sun.

7. Being castrated and bleeding out. Enough said

8. Scaphism. Possibly the most interesting. It developed in Persia near the early A.D. The victim would be stripped naked a strapped to a small vessel. Before being sent up a river, they would be slathered in honey. They would also be force fed honey and milk as a last meal. This would give them diarrhea. The excrement and honey would attract scavengers. The scavengers would proceed to eat the victim. Insects would bite the skin and lay eggs in the lower dermis. If they didn't die from the initial sceptic shock, they would either be killed by the massive damage to their bodies by the scavengers, exposure to the hot sun and sceptic conditions or via infection from one of the many vectors attracted to their ripe, disgusting bodies. To make sure the victims didn't die from something simple like dehydration, the feeding was repeated each day. Delirium typically set in a few days.

This is like the 10th time I've seen a thread about execution today.
I pick number 1.

What is with the Escapist and death today? Did everyone start slitting their wrists?

OT: I pick 7, it just seems to be the most isolated, painful way to die over time.

I'd go with... none. Water torture is the way to go: "Hippolytus de Marsiliis is credited with the invention of a form of water torture. Having observed how drops of water falling one by one on a stone gradually created a hollow, he applied the method to the human body. "

And:

The term Spanish water torture is also used in Europe and UK, although this term often refers to a variation of waterboarding used during the Spanish Inquisition:

"Victims were strapped down so that they could not move, and cold water was then dripped slowly on to a small area of the body. The forehead was found to be the most suitable point for this form of torture: prisoners could see each drop coming, and after long durations were gradually driven frantic as a perceived hollow would form in the centre of the forehead. Many of the people that were being tortured suffered a great deal of mental retardation."

Erosion. In your face. Think about it.

I'm actually not sure why everyone is talking about death today. I guess its like ME2, MW2 and AC2 were, fads. Who knows, next we'll be on the topic of stem cell research! I"m happy about this execution thing because I'm getting some great material.

There was a method of execution circa the Roman Empire which was pretty nasty. Can't remember the name, but a slit would be cut in the person's stomach and one end of their intestine brought out and attached to a tree. They'd then be forced to walk around the tree and slowly disembowel themselves.

There are varieties of venom that max out the pain sensation within the body and can even remove your ability to feel anything other than pain, literally translating any sensory signal into an excruciating sensation. People can live for decades with this after the initial exposure.

Why isnt this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged,_drawn_and_quartered] on your list?

I pick 3. The very idea makes me sick.

Runner up: The Catherine Wheel. The victim was strapped to a wheel, and it was rolled along a bar to break the victim's bones. Done properly, it turned his limbs into loose sacks of flesh, with the bones broken into small chips. The skin would appear to be quilled, with so many long thin fragments of flesh sticking out. Then the victim would be dangled from these limbs in the town square, to be eaten by crows.

Even the Catherine Wheel has no comparison to the most feared form of execution of all time:

The Saw.

Alright, buddy. Here's the pic (no, I won't post it full size)

You take a guy and hang him upside down for a while, and let the blood pool in his head. Then you take a big ol' dirty bow saw, you start at his taint, and cut him in half. Because of the blood pooling in his head, the guy lives until you start cutting into his neck or head. OK, that's the less painful version.

After enough time executing people this way, the French were the first to discover that you could keep them alive by cutting into their diaphragm, and no further. That's the large muscle above your intestines. It was reported that some people survived 3 days hanging upside down this way. If the peasants really hated the guy, his wounds would be smeared in pig shit. If the nobles really hated the guy, they'd fill his wounds with salt.

Aaah... fuck, I need a drink.

Oh, I can come up with much worse than those. Those are tame compared to the sort of stuff I stick in my short stories...

Umm 2 I guess, this is kinda disturbing though
Good, you should be disturbed! The tree disembowelment thing sounds...umm...interesting for lack of a better word, it pales in comparision to the bloody eagle, which coincidentally sounds like a hard liquor

Basically, the vikings would cut open your chest cavity, break your ribs, and pull out your lungs. The emptied cavity would be filled with salt. This would make the victim scream, and jerk their head back, giving them the appearence of an eagle in flight, hence the name. The lungs would also be stretched out and have salt rubbed on them. The most fucked up part about it is that you'd stay alive for a while. Its been reputed that a good praticing of the technique prolonged the victim for at least 1 to 2 hours.

Yeah, uhm, this doesn't make you look like a psychotic killer. No, not at all...
But if you want somebody to indulge your sick fantasies, look up [Ni(CO)4], ie Nickel tetracarbonyl. One of the less expedient ways to die from a chemical...

You know, I think you were asking for people to read that with the spoiler tag, which is why I'm surprised I decided not to.

I remember my friend telling me about the Norse execution called the Blood Eagle, which is basically having your ribs split/spread open and your lungs removed, as to resemble blood-stained eagle wings. Salt is then sprinkled on the wounds (maybe not in that order). It certainly sounds painful, but it's definitely the most METAL way I've ever heard of to be executed. ....\\m/

OT: I have no idea what number 5's about, and 3 sounds pretty brutal, but too brief compared to the other ones. That's why I picked 8.

I care not what people think of me, merely of how they think of death. Also my game's still being installed so I need to kill about half an hour.

I think the worst is the Spanish donkey.
you were placed on a sharpened pummel horse like object with your feet hanging over the sides. large weights would be attacked to your feet, over the next several days the blade would begin to cut through you, slowly, painfully, till it got about halfway into your spine, you lose all feeling from your neck down and are probably dead but if not your heart goes to one side as it begins to cut through your arteries, dead.
executioners would find it funny to watch the blade cut through your brain and skull, no bones breaking just a smooth, slow cut.

hmmmm. kinda sound like the Greek myth.
this is how it goes: man A sees man B struggling to hold on to two bent birch trees, out of the kindness of his heart man A helps man B and grabs both the trees. quickly man B ties man A's hands to the trees than sits down on a rock and laughs as man A is ripped apart and slowly dies.
that's probably the worst way to go out.
