Anyone who's played Pokemon G/S/C long enough knows this one. When the internal battery runs dry, the game no longer holds saves. It doesn't warn you about this, there's no error message or anything. You just turn it on one day, and your save file is gone forever.
Pretty much this. Shit sucks.
Although as far as ones that haven't been mentioned, during Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, I was about to beat Stone Tower Temple with all the fairies and such, and had made it to the final spinning spiky things. I put up my shield to avoid taking damage, and got stuck to the spinning spiky bar. I was unable to move, couldn't put my shield down, and had to reset the system. Luckily, I know the game backward and forward, and it's one of my favourite temples ever, so I didn't mind that much.
This wasn't rage, but still an interesting glitch, in The Red Star for PS2, a friend was playing coop with my brother, and they were getting their asses kicked. I picked up the controller, taking over for the friend, and suddenly, we weren't taking any damage. At first we thought we had just gotten better at it suddenly, but after a particularly unforgiving boss fight, we tested it out. God mode had been enabled, we couldn't take any damage, and were able to blow through the game in record time, and just tanked the final boss.
Oh, and this wasn't rage either, but caused MASSIVE rage for my friend. He had apparently made huge progress in Oblivion, and let me take over for him for a few minutes. I didn't want to get in any combat situations, because I didn't want to fuck things up for him, so I just piddled around in town, and took a swim. As soon as I left the water, my breath bar was still dropping. I called him over, and he couldn't figure it out. I tried diving underwater again, and came up for air, but the character just would NOT BREATHE. He just held his fucking breath while running around frantically until he dropped dead. I'm not sure how much data you lose in the game if you die, having never played it for an extended period of time, but apparently it was a huge annoyance. I thought it was funny as hell.
Another glitch that caused a lot of rage for others, was at a LAN party. Three friends were playing Starcraft, and were taking an epic last stand against the computers. I was on my Gamecube playing Ocarina of Time, and beat the entire game in one sitting, just to get access to the swordless Link glitch to show someone. I said 'here's where the fucked up things start, especially with the horse'. I played Epona's Song, and as soon as the whinny was heard, the power went out. We blew a fuse, not only downstairs, but UPSTAIRS. NOBODY was upstairs, we have no idea how it happened, and we were forced to fix the fuses with no light except a red lightsaber.
Needless to say, the Starcraft players were furious at their lost game, and I laughed heartily.
