Alright so I'm playing SH2.

Brookhaven hospital, towards the end, me and Maria get into this really narrow corridor. I turn the corner and see Pyramid head behind us. I was startled, but kept walking, but THEN HE STARTED RUNNING TOWARDS ME OH MY HOLY FUCKING SHIT RUN JAMES RUN

You?

Everyone will say "HUR HUR AMNESIA" A game I found to be boring after the third monster encounter.

Mine probably has to be while I was playing Resident evil 2 at age 8.

THAT FUCKING LICKER STILLS CREEPS ME OUT!

The school in Fear 2 when all the lights cut out and your only light happens to be glowing ghost that can walk through walls and damage on touch.

AvP 2 for the PC...pick any level out of the Marine campaign (except the last one where you're romping around in an exo-suit). The most terrifying thing about that campaign is actually the marine's greatest asset: the motion tracker. Just listening to those beeps getting closer...and closer...and closer. Meanwhile you're staring down a pitch-black hallway covered with xenomorph infestation crap...

The year it came out, a number of gaming magazines said the Marine campaign was one of the scariest single-player experiences ever...now I'm not one to buy into magazine hype, but I've really gotta agree with them on this one.

Fatal Frame always freaked me out for some reason. Most other games have been blah as far as scary really.

SH3 is ok, no-where near as scary as the first 2 (IMO)

THAT MOTION DETECTOR!

*Beep Beep* And I immediately turn to the flashing dot, trying to figure out if something is comeing straight at me, from the ceiling or from under me. And the damn dot just stays in place and suddenly disappears. Every elevator made my heart race as if I was chased by a lunatic with a knife.

I'll just repost this from the past, as I'm too lazy to type it up again:

Almost certainly Ravenholm. Not helped by playing it at around midnight.
How about my story: replaying Ravenholm around midnight in the dark with headphones on. It's silent now but I'm trying to listen for the godawful zombies. I hear the sound but dismiss it because it's not a typical zombie sound. But then, it wasn't a typical in-game sound either... And a hand grabs me from behind.

My mother wanted to ask me was I going to bed soon (fair enough, I had to go to school early on the following day). As luck would have it, there were no firearms, knives or other objects that could serve as weapons within an arms reach. I might have had a parent less that night otherwise.
Also.

Shalebridge Cradle

Sweet dreams.

Seriously! I HATED all the phantom signals you'd get from that thing! There's a crane hook slowly swinging back and forth, yet your tracker swears to god that it's an alien creeping around in the shadows, waiting to pounce!

xD one of my favorite lines from the game is when your team first gets to the colony and you're checking the place out
Guy over the radio: "Oh god, is that a boot? Please tell me that's a boot!"
*a few moments later*
Guy over the radio: (in a happy/relieved voice) "Hey-hey! It's a boot!"

Dead Space 2 beginning. Mainly because:
1) I was playing on a huge tv
2) It was 3 am
3) My gaming headphones were on
4) My roomate was watching me play behind me. I didn't know he was there but I could feel his eyes.

Diagnosis- Absolutely horrified

Whenever I play Alan Wake, I get a shock from the taken. Sure it's not as scary as the other games, but the atmosphere and tension of the game is what gets me in the mood.

The Chapel Choir in Amnesia (durr hurr hurr) had easily the most completely oppressive atmosphere ever put to code. Agh.

If I'm not allowed to use that, then I guess the Chapel EVERYTHING in Silent Hill 3 wins.

What is it with chapels in horror games? It doesn't help, I guess, that I got locked in one once when I was four.
