What is the most bizar, or unexpecited plot twist you have ever been confronted with.

Mine was in Bioshock, when it tunes out that Jack was a clone...er...whatever he was.
Thanks, fuckhead.

;_; Why couldn't you have used a spoiler tag... So sad...

The ending of Soul Reaver 2 is my all-time favourite. It took me days to get my jaw off the floor.
Oh god yes that was so good.
when after all the talk about Raziel's free-will his choice is to meet his predestend fate of his own volition, and Kain is powerless to do anything to save his favourite child, fucking brilliant.

The twist that Dante's Inferno, isn't actually based on Dante's Inferno, that it's Orpheus instead, that came out of nowhere. WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST CALL IT ORPHEUS?!?!?!

also,
Really? Aliens?
that Ash was an android, there's so many subtle hints too, but when his head comes off, FUCK!

Seriously, why did you put the twist at the end for those who haven't had a chance to play it yet?

OT: When Bruce Willis was [censored] at the end of Sixth Sense. {prompt someone to start singing "Jizz In My Pants" :)}
AND I JIZZ IN MY PANTS!!

You mean when you're trying to get the thing, and the guy screws you.
If so then that was spoiled for me when I was looking at multiplayer skins.
I am Disk Thrower, not ninja >:O

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean.

You know the one.

I'm a girl, and that twist left me walking funny. The game as a whole was average at best. It did have some glorious moments shining through the verbose JRPG pitfalls, despite it's horrendous ending. But everyone remembers it for the plot twist.

I'm still new on The Escapist, so I don't know if I'm going to be torn to bits for mentioning a fairly obscure JRPG.
I was gonna say about that twist damn beated me to it. Great game, one of my favourites on the gamecube (i liked it more than final fantasy 10 even O.O) and the game is not as obscure as you might think. A couple of people including myself have mentioned it on these forums before.

anyway welcome to the escapist it's nice to have more people of the female gender come and post here
Charmed. Thanks for the warm welcome.

You play Baten Kaitos Origins? In my opinion, it improves on almost everything that it's predecessor did. Especially in the voice acting and writing categories. But instead of one hard hitting plot twist, you get three, slightly lighter plot twists in quick succession. It didn't hit me quite as hard as Eternal Wings did, but still.
Unfortunely baten kaitos origins was never released in my country (UK) and its a shame because i want to play it so badly it hurts. :(

MW2, when Shepard shot Ghost and Roach.

To this day, I still have no idea why. But then again, the story was pretty awful anyways.

Apart from KOTOR, (witch blew my nuts off) there is other game that not many people have heard off, its called Baten Kaitos and it had huge plot twist in there.

Turns out the "hero" is actually evil, and he betrays you in order to get "his wings"

it does not sound that big a twist but if you play the game its like WTF.

Games: System Shock 2 and Deus Ex I was able to guess a good deal beforehand. Bioshock I didn't guess it all, but I knew something was fishy about that submarine, and was kind of hesitant to work for Atlas after he wouldn't meet me face-to-face, leaving me with a sense of heavy foreboding walking into Ryan's office. The end of Diablo was just stupid. Modern Warfare's was just jarring. But the best was KOTOR, hands down. Unpredictable, yet it makes perfect sense.

Books: Ender's Game was good, but Starship Troopers had taught me not to trust surface appearances in those matters. Most of Chuck Palhniuk's books have some sort of twist, the best being in Haunted. The one that really floored me was I Am Legend. The end of the book is nothing at all like that CGI shitfest. The title actually makes sense.

Dark City, when you....well, c'mon...who saw that coming?
Yeah. Some other good ones- Shutter Island's twist is predictable, but still good. I don't think anybody guessed ALL of it. Whatever the hell happened at the end of the new Planet of the Apes was insane. The Departed was awesome and surprises the shit out of you. Fight Club I caught on about a minute before the reveal. Se7en and Usual Suspects are both awesome. I don't like any of M. Night's twists, and Monster-A-Go-Go was a complete cop-out. My favorite is the end of the original Night of the Living Dead. Man is that bleak.

How's this for a plot twist; Turns out I'm related to my sixth grade English teacher (whom I'm not very fond of). I'm like her second cousin through marriage or something like that.

Woah, Baten kaitos fans ninja'ed me.
I love that game so much, its poor graphics never bothered me, because the story was so amazing, and the music....oh the music <3

Keyser Soze's identity at the end of The Usual Suspects.

Jigsaw revealing himself at the end of the first Saw movie.

The revelation of how Mary Sunderland had died (unfortunately that was spoiled for me, I saw it somewhere before even playing that game; still a good plot twist).

And also, would you kindly refrain from revealing one of the most shocking twists in video game history?

EDIT: oh yeah, I forgot pretty much every ending for every Lost chapter ever, especially the season finales.

The entire Legacy of Kain series. Every twist was fun and unique and really made for a wonderful story. It's a shame that the sequel to Defiance was cancelled.

Assassin's Creed 2 and Bioshock were at the top of my list, but Heavy Rain beats them all.

I mean: come on! Who would expect that the Origami Killer turns out to be ...

... Scott Shelby, the private detective who is one of the four main characters? You just don't see that coming!! And it all makes sense!

I'm sorry. I can't put any other plot twists at the top than the one in Heavy Rain when the Origami Killer's identity is revealed.

COD4. Last marine mission. I was so shocked I couldn't speak for days and my poop turned green. Granted, it doesn't twist the plot that much, but it was something I had never ever experienced in a game before, and thought I never would. At that moment I fell to my knees in silent praise for the writing team, and vowed eternal death for the antagonists.

Sadly, I accidentally spoiled Bioshock's key plot point for myself from wikipedia about a year before actually playing it, and therefore had a pretty good grasp on what was going on throughout the entire game. I was still somewhat surprised at some of the revelations.
For instance, I NEVER would have realised the true identity of Atlas! Only knowing the fact that he was controlling me, at some point in the game (when his "family" gets blown up) I actually started to believe that he was in fact the good guy. Heck, I even wondered if maybe I was Frank Fontaine :D Also the whole Ryan being your dad thing. Quite unexpected.

I never really got around to finishing KotOR (After stalling somewhere around the underwater part at Manaan(?) about two years ago I just never really picked it up, despite still regarding it as a totally kick-ass game with some of the best writing until Mass Effect. I still have my saves though, so maybe some day I'll keep going where I left off.) but from what I've heard and deduced I'm afraid the "incredible" plot twist is ruined for me =(
From what I understand, either the player character themself or Bastila is Darth Malak. I always suspected it could be Bastila's true identity, but if it is the player then I can understand the amount of surprise that's related to it.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within - the Sand Wraith. It all made so much sense!

Team Fortress 2 - When I learned the identity of the commentator lady. I'll never be able to play that game the same way again!

if their was any justice in this world then baten kaitos would of been much more popular and would be up there with the all-time great rpg's.

Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 pulled a double team on me:

In the first one, you find out that the wise king Ansem had turned evil.

In the second one it's revealed that the real Ansem was framed by Xehanort, who had sullied his name. Ansem the Wise calls himself DiZ and Xehanort is, effectively, the Org. leader.

In Birth by Sleep it's revealed that Xehanort is a keyblade master. This was hinted at when he mentioned in his report that he opened the door to Hollow Bastion's heart.
