What was the most fun and enjoyable game that you've played that you didn't think you would like. Example: Bargain Bin games

Patapon. It was so cheap I thought it would suck. But it's the best PSP game ever. Yes, even better than god of war and Crisis core.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. Found it in a bargain bin. Great game, and has an even better sequel.

We Love Katamari. When my sister told me about this game it sounded really stupid, but was actually pretty good.

I'll second Runescape, it might suck if you compare it to other games but as a beginner's step into the world of MMOs it does it's job pretty well.

Katamari was also a good surprise of wacky and innuendo filled fun :D

And Dirge of Cerberus, everyone says it sucks but it's not that bad and is quite fun when you run around in your monster forms or start sniping.

Everyone (IGN) apparently hates alone the dark with the possible exception of me (People with brains). The game is fun, if flawed. The only game in which you can light almost anything on fire.

Resident Evil: Outbreak File 2- I got it for about £2 and quite a few people give it hassle but I acually had fun with it (it certainly was intresting how Tyrant could wail on you for a solid 5 minutes and not kill you, yet standing around in the starting area for 45 minutes doing nothing will spell your doom).

I've also got to give mention to Turok (the new one that is), depite how bad everyone said it was, it was actually pretty fun from time to time and using he knife against friends is multiplayer is a very easy way to fall out with friends (your dominace over them being apparent until some spoil-sport comes over and fries you with the flamer while you're still carving them like a goose).

Last one, after a friend telling me that it was too hard and boring, I gave Metroid Prime a try (give it a chance to proove itself otherwise) and still think it is by far one of the best FPS games I have ever played (it didn't even need to fall back on the useual combination of boobs and viscera that more recent games do). That and also it was a game that certainly got o peta's nerves...it get better.

Hunting Unlimited 2. (very cheap but oh so enjoyable)
I second the Turok motion
Tenchu Z (also fairly cheap, especially for a 360 game)

Kameo, first 360 game I ever played and actually enjoyed.
Last one too, since my brother moved out and took the 360 with him.

there's a cost to value scale though, Because I think one of the funnest games I've ever played was Soldiers At War for the PC which I got out of a bargain bin for 3 bucks. it was a simple squad WW2 turned based game with a lvl editor and that's pretty much it, from that I was able to glean 1000's of hours of enjoyment beating the game on all settings while establishing personal goals as well as making and defeating maps for and from my friends. So I went out thinking that all these squad based WW2 games were fun, my mistake; when I purchased another one from a different developer that had prettier graphics and what not for full retail I couldn't even pass the second level it was so terrible.

I just remembered another; Full Throttle. It came free on the same disk as the demo we got for Dark Forces.

Portal. as said by Yahtzee: "I was expecting a portal door puzle game and thats what I got. what I wasnt expecting was the greatest pitch black humour in a game"

GTA 3 was shockingly fun to me, I thought it was just some boring adventure game or something

Harvest Moon was also a hidden gem for me, who knew farm work would be so addicting?
