Red Alert 3. After playing Tiberium Wars (C&C3), I was expecting another huge load of bullcrap, but this is probably the most fun I've had in a game for years. Orange Box aside.
Do you mean Red Alert 2? If so yeah, RA2 i still one of the best RTS ever made. The last great game from Westwood.
No, I mean Red Alert 3. It took everything that made Red Alert 2 amazing and just added a lot of really fun twists to it.

Guitar heroe was the big one for me. I always hated guitar heroe (since i play real guitar) until i tried it and got totally hooked. I felt like a complete jack ass admitting it was fun lol.

Harvest Moon on the 64 is my #2

I've wanted to play that one for a while. Just never got around to it. Great if you are jonesing for an Xcom-type-game-fix.

Mine would be Industry Giant 2. Yeah, you probably never heard of it. I found this when I was desperate to play Railroad Tycoon 2 and didn't have it on me. Nice cross between Railroad & Transport Tycoon.

Ah. Forgot one: Guitar Hero

When I first heard about it, I raged a fair bit. Thought it was such a stupid idea, that it was boring and repetitive and a lot of other bad things.

.. Man, was I wrong. I got well and truly addicted. XD

EDIT: I know it wasn't exactly surprising for others, but I was shocked that it turned out to be so much fun. >.>

Halo 1. (Walked into it without knowing the reviews and as a Nintendo Fanboy that thought none could top Resident Evil in "awesomeness".)

Katamari Damacy's right up there, as is (believe it or not) Oblivion, since I hadn't played an RPG since Final Fantasy IX (and hadn't played a western RPG since the SSI Gold Box D&D games) but everyone and their sister recommended it to me so I decided to give it a shot.

Sacrifice, which I talked about in a thread a while back. I got it with my old computer in a weird pink cd case, and I didn't try it cause I thought it looked meh. After a few years, I was bored and decided to try it. The rest is history.

Also, I stayed away from DoD until I played it at a lan two years ago. I ended up enjoying it more than counter strike.

Gunmetal, came free with a laptop and i'd never heard of it anywhere else. Simple mech/jet transformer game, limited in it's ambition but perfectly functional with fair graphics and plenty of fun once you got used to really exploiting the twin modes.

Thirded. Truly brilliant game. Roleplay, RTS and Turnbased all in one.

RezHD; I never expected to enjoy it as much as I do, very surprising considering it's a port of a seven-year-old rail shooter.

I really liked Baroque and Alien Syndrome for the Wii. If you look pass the bad graphics, both games are really fun.

oh and how come you played it :p and yes I've heard of it.. I stell remember an ad with a woman screaming and holding a gun. so yes people heard of it but it's just not my type of game, so don't get al cocky that you know it :p

I wasn't being cocky. It's just true that most people haven't heard of it. I'm glad to see that other people HAVE heard of it though, it deserves some recognition.

Another surprisingly fun game is The Warriors. I've played it through a billion times and it never gets old. All things considered, shockingly well designed by Rockstar.
