Haa and this. Looked like another silly obnoxious animated kids movie that we have way too many of but I honestly enjoyed it. Was a really good movie that I could sit down and watch with the kids without wanting to murder myself. Same goes for Tangled tooJumplion said:How to Train Your Dragon was severely underrated. I just absolutely loved the movie, better than Toy Story 3 in some ways. The flying sections really made you feel like you were there with the characters, and the music just synched up with it perfectly. The whole pace was great, and the animation was gorgeous. It is severely underrated compared to Toy Story or anything that Pixar does.
Oh yes, The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a dark movie, especially the priest (forgot his name).Sovvolf said:I'd say The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the film was pretty adult for a kids movie, had an amazing score and a horrid villain who was also, to some extent understandable. He wasn't evil for the sake of being evil.
I mean obviously the played down a lot of the religious stuff to avoid a lot of protesting however I was surprised by it.
Yeah, I think what cemented that movie's greatness for me was the ending. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it certainly surprised me that they did it like that.beniki said:How to train your dragon.
When i first heard about it, I just thought it was a normal Dreamworks second fiddle to the Pixar release that year, and with a really silly name to go with it.
Then I watched it.
Damn. Great story, great visuals, and a soundtrack that truly is awesome. And that ending? Holy crap! Consequences!
I absolutely loved this movie and the 3D effects were nice.Jumplion said:Yeah, I think what cemented that movie's greatness for me was the ending. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it certainly surprised me that they did it like that.beniki said:How to train your dragon.

I think the priest (though they changed him to a judge in the movie) name is Frollo. Not 100% on that though.Jumplion said:Oh yes, The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a dark movie, especially the priest (forgot his name).Sovvolf said:I'd say The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the film was pretty adult for a kids movie, had an amazing score and a horrid villain who was also, to some extent understandable. Yep,scary how Disney can surprise you every once in a while. Doesn't change that they still have a pattern when making movies. Good,Bad,then Pixar, that seems to be the basic pattern.Space Spoons said:Meet the Robinsons was a genuine surprise for me. I was working at a grocery store that was showing it on repeat to demo a display TV set, so I'd catch bits and pieces of it in between the busy hours. Eventually, curiosity got the best of me and I rented it one night, just so I could see it from start to finish, without any interruptions.
What I expected was standard CGI Disney trash. What I got was something genuinely funny and surprisingly heartfelt in a way that wasn't too Hallmark-y. Great movie, highly recommended.
How is this a "surprising" animated film? EVERYONE expected it to rock. Like seriously, EVERYONE.wootsman said:snip
Grave of the Fireflies was so very very depressing, it ruined my weekend but damn it was a good movie.KingofallCosmos said:Les Triplettes de Belleville is the best one I remember.
Also, grave of the fireflies. One of the best war movies imo.
