I've played a lot of free MMOs and most of them are horrible; Jade Dynasty, Dofus, Eternal Lands, Earth Eternal, Perfect World, the list goes on and on.

Good MMOs that I've played were: Astonia 3, Dark Eden... I guess that's all I can remember right now. I only play free MMOs.

Runescape sucks, yeah, but at least some of it is Free!As in no frontload cost or monthly fees, so if you judge the free version on a value of entertainment:cost value it is basically infinite, entertainment:time is a different story. I of course quit Runescape when I found a nifty formula to get lots of money, I wanted to buy something, I did some calculations and realised I'd have to play 2 hours a day, 7 days a week for 3 weeks to get ONE ITEM. At least Runescapes grindy scence made me realise how some people can get so rich if they're deciated to work, and I thought if I'm gonna grind my life away I may as well be getting payed.

WoW I dislike for one reason:Monthly Fees:

Thanks to WoW it will probably take 10 years to wipe the stench of monthly fees from gaming forever. I noticed how some users on the Escapist have certain pet peeves of gaming, I'm the "really fucking hates monthly fees guy"

Pretty much all of them I've ever tried Wow, Maplestory, flyff, Ragnarok...ect I'm just not into the whole MMO thing. Every single time I try I get to about level 30 then get bored.

There are tons of really terrible MMORPGs out there, but a single one shines out for me, and when I say shine I'm being supremely ironic, because this thing sucks the light out everything it touches. This "game" is Dream World, and is one of the most mindblowingly awful sinks of time and money in the world. To call it is a game is a disgrace to every game in the world, and to call it a MMO is just an outright lie.

This "game" is pretty much compromised of clicking the "explore" button thirty times, then waiting fifteen minutes and doing that again, encouraging people to view their page repeatadly to achieve anything. Player interaction is non existant, with what it calls PvP being fighting another player's character controlled by the computer, and poorly at that. The graphics are terrible and the storyline non-existant. Further more, the game pushes you to pay for "features" at every instance, simply to make the game less painful. Avoid at all costs.

Every MMO besides Guild Wars.
(no, this is no fan talk, every other MMO that I've ever played was just grinding, grinding and more grinding, while Guild Wars has some nice quest based leveling)

I decided to take a break for WoW (this was about 3 years ago I guess) and got Guild Wars. Played it for about a week, it sucked so bad. I know people like it, but I just thought it blew chunks. I also tried Warhammer Online and it was actually pretty good for pvp but I found it tedious to do group quests, for some reason there was rarely people around to do them (I might have been ahead of the average) so I got bored and the pvp would have been good but I really just wanted to level up before really getting into that.

I also tried Eve for a bit, it's neat but not my cup of tea. And old MMO I played way before WoW was called Dragon Raja (open beta), and that was really fun. It was a lot like Diablo. Oh yea and I played Priston Tales which was decent but after a while I found it also very repetitive. I found I don't like relying on random drops/auctions to get gear. I prefer the WoW style of hard quest rewards or dungeons for lootz.

The only MMO that really comes to mind is EVE Online.

It's a very slow game. Though, to be fair, I've had my best ever game-playing, vein-popping highs with EVE as well.

Runescape. It takes like 20 minutes to walk places and the combat is so boring to watch. Also the level up system is irritating.

Unless you have a very erratic play schedule from month to month I can't really understand the hate for monthly fees. With the amount of content/updates you usually get it's pretty justified IMO.

Well there's the Gala-Net free MMOs that want you to fall in love with the graphics, but the games suck and the only way to progress is to buy stuff from their cash malls. I tried playing EverQuest 2 during it's free trial, it was meh at best. You would think for the original MMO they would have a few tricks up their sleeve. But I tend to agree with this:

All of them?

Need MMOs not based around grind grind and grind some more.
The idea is to find what flavor you want your grind. (Not an intentional coffee joke)

Don't even get me started on the forced PVP *Glares at Aion*

Trust cracked to put out, timely too, a thread which sums up everything wrong with MMOs. Also why any idea I might have would get shot down, if I was on the dev team, because it would be counter-productive to the whole 'bleed every cent out of them through monthly instalments' mentality.

Well done cracked, well done.

EvE.

I couldn't even make it through the tutorial, the 45min tutorial, without being overcome by boredom.
