When I was 12 I confronted a gang of 5 drunk teenagers who were pouring diesel fuel all over my fathers machine shed and trying to light it up, with my dog and a bb rifle, and ordered them off my parents property. Was lucky not one of those dickwits called my bluff.
sorry man, but that made me laugh at first I thought they were using the dog and a bb gun to get a spark...

yes sorry, I am not that smart!

OT: when I was 3 or 4 or something, I saw a bird eat a smaller bird, and the mother bird was watching...

somehow that still feels worse then knowing thousands of people are being tortured and killed all the time...

Any time my father got angry and swore. He's the kind of guy you'd never expect to go off his rocker but when he does it's like a surprise smack to the face. Even nowadays like the other day when he told some prick who was loudly yacking away on his cellphone to turn the fucking thing off during Avatar

Half of it is bullshit...

I had a very tame childhood... Probably breaking my arm when I was 3.

The day I realized that religion didn't make any sense and that when I died I wasn't going to heaven or hell I was just going to stop existing. I was 8.
I was around that age too when I first realized it. That thought still scares the crap out of me.

My parents fought a lot from time to time when I was young. They weren't physical, but they would scream at each other and my mom would throw stuff around. But it did get physical one time, I woke up in the middle of the night and heard my parents fighting again (I was around 10 at the time). I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I think my mom punched my dad (or something physical at least) and he pushed her away which led to her falling spine-first over the livingroom-table. My sister got up, yelled at them to stop, my mom cried and yelled at my dad to get out, he refused to and my mom took off. My dad called her parents and told them what had happened. They came over, checked to see if I was awake but I pretended to be asleep. My mom walked on crutches a few weeks after that, but otherwise she was OK. Their on-and-off fighting at least made it easier for me when they finally got divorced when I was 13.

Still, this is nothing compared to some of the things I've read in this thread. The world is fucked up.

hmm, probably when me and my mum were driving down a road, we saw a happy little bunny just merrily running along side our car, and then it decides to jump in front of the car, exploding, getting little bunny guts on the windshield... i was 6...

I had the complex where you walk in on your parents.... y'know.

That screwed me up for a while.

I was on a speedboat who's engine decided to explode and take the back of the boat with it. Luckily, we were boating in a bay littered with islands and were able to use the remains of the vessel as a raft to get to one of them and chill out until someone came to pick us up. Only took the coast guard about an hour, as the explosion was seen at the shore. I was only 12 at that stage, so I'd say it was fairly traumatic. It wasn't until I got back to the shore that I realised my jumper was burned to a crisp. How I escaped with nothing more than singed hair I don't know.

I was chased by a dude with a bat after he almost ran me over with his car. Ok, so maybe I swore at him after the car incident but I was angry and in shock...

Me and my brother were out in the backyard playing, i think i was six and he was four, and the neighbor's dog and it's two pups (all rottweiler-shepherd hybrids) came at us and starting biting and attacking us.

My mom was out at the store buying a pack of smokes, and my dad was at work. I got my brother into the shed, and was trying to fend off the animals with a hockey stick. My mom arrives home and hears me and my brother yelling. She comes out with a baseball bat in her hand, and brings it down on the animal's skull (I'll never forget that sound)

I learned that day that no matter how your day is going, it can always take a turn for the worse.

The part about this story that frightens me the most, was that the neighbors were home, and could hear us. They gave no apologies whatsoever and actually tried to sue my mother for killing their dog.
Your neighbors are bastards. Irredeemable bastards.

As for me, I got chased by all kinds of dogs when I rode my bike around the neighborhood at roughly age 6. Seriously, those fuckers would come out of nowhere to chase me. I couldn't stand dogs until I was at least 15.

When I was 4, I underwent an operation to cut an eye muscle, to correct a crossed eye. I woke up during the procedure. Metal instruments (scissors, knives, etc) scared me for years afterward.

When I was 5, my mother dropped me down a flight of stairs. I had fallen asleep and she was carrying me. It was presumably icy out. I don't recall much of that at all, but the bloodstained towel, I remember. Numerous stitches to my scalp.

When I was 9, I slammed a glass screen door shut on my sister. It shattered, and one of the shards pierced her leg. That was a mess. It left a long scar, and she's never let me forget I did it.

That same year, I set the neighbor's back yard on fire. I remember it clearly. At the time it seemed an excellent idea to put it out with kettles of water from the kitchen sink. It wasn't good enough. Fire department got there pretty quick though, which surprised me. No serious damage, just grass and greenery.

When I was 10, something happened that I've never told anyone about, and I'll keep it that way.

When I was 13, I was molested by a neighbor of ours; a 30 - 35 year-old woman. That one doesn't bother me much for some reason.

The list goes on, but past 13 doesn't really qualify for "little kid" anymore.
The worst thing about this post is that I assumed that the thing that was when you were 10 was something like the thing when you were 13. If you were willing to post the thing twhen you were 13 though, the thing when you were 10 must have been worse.

I may edit this post later to quote the guy that issued a challenge to come up with something better.

Wow, there are some really traumatic, terrible stories in this thread.

Which is why I can honestly say...I am thoroughly entertained.

No offense, it's just the truth. At least you can know some good came from your misfortune.

probably for me the first time my dad got drunk and beat the shit out of me, must've been 6. afterward he said "i love you, but if youy get up i'm going to kill you."
fortunately i realised that i'm pretty tough by my teens so things turned around a bit after that.

Well, some things I don't even want to state WITH Internet Anonymity, but I suppose one of the lesser scarring moments was being beaten by my neighbor. That sucked cock and balls, like, all up in your mouth. He's dead now, so I don't feel so bad about it anymore. Hell is bad enough.

EDIT: When I say "lesser scarring moments", I don't mean to sound like my life has sucked. Quite the contrary, my life is fucking awesome. I just mean that there are some worse things that have happened.
