There have been many threads about things like: What's the best weapon, what's the most powerful weapon, and so on, but I don't think there has ever been a thread about what's the most unconventional weapon that has appeared in a game?

The fist.

It is pretty fun to use though. It would realistically be very ineffective, but whatever, it is a game, and that is why it is so fun to use.

I remember in FF4 you could get a spoon (knife in some translations) that's only purpose is to throw it at the enemy for surprisingly high damage

Lilka from Wild Arms 2 uses an umbrella. It's not a hidden gun or sword, just a regular, run of the mill umbrella.

There's of course, also Yuffie and her giant boomerang or Sora and his giant key. Oh and Caina from Wild Arms 2 also uses a giant key (that talks). Cait Sith uses a giant stuffed moogle, Quina from Final Fantasy 9 uses forks, Waka uses blitz balls...

Toejam and Earl use tomatoes as their weapons. I'm pretty sure one of the weapons in Devil May Cry 3 was a guitar, Kirby uses... everything including many many tiny versions of himself.

The most unconventional weapon is clearly the sniper's jar of urine from TF2. The sniper is a master of jarate don't you know.

Joachim from Shadow Hearts Covenant always had some wacky weapons, such as a red mailbox, a giant, frozen Tuna, a desk and literally THE Nautilus, somehow shrunken, so he can hold it while striking wrestling poses.

Come to think of it that game had some other bizarre weapons. Anastasia fights with fabergê eggs exclusively, including one from space and Gepetto uses his Lolita puppet to fight. That game was really something else, read japanese.

On that note guilty Gear comes to mind. I-No was a witch that wielded an electric guitar, Venom fought with a queue and billard balls, Milia used her hair and Bridget attacked with jo-jos. I have a feeling that most things listed here will come from japanese games, unconventional stuff seems much more common there. So to give western developers at least some representation i will mention one of my favourite game series Ratchet & Clank. From the vast amount of interesting weapons to find in this series i want to only mention one: the rift inducer, a gun that shoots black holes for your enemies to be consumed by. Watching several goons walk to close to your placed portal and listening to their screams as they're dragged into the nothingness was a treat hard to replicate with any other weapon. It was the gun that, for me, made a merely good game great.

The Happy Bubble Blaster from Just Cause 2

Sadly the Panuan military doesn't like it if you blast them with your happy bubbles though.

Lightwhip.

Not only does that break the real world the laws of psychics and the theoretical laws of how a lightsaber is supposed to work in Star wars, but it would be seriously suicidal.

I mean just turning it on, how would you know which way the whip is going to fall after it generates? There go your legs right there.

I want to say "The Fork of Hortipilation" from Morrowind, as it's just a BBQ Fork and you have to kill an enormous creature with it. Unfortunately, it's pointy, and would hurt to get stabbed with so it's not That unconventional, unweildy name aside.

Honours go to Vayne from Mana Khemia. His weapon is a Cat, that transforms into a weird sword-bracelet-glove Thing reminiscent of a Katar, that changes shape and size as he attacks.

Yes, that's his Cat; its name is Sulpher.

Honourable mention to Pamela, from the same game. She's a ghost who possesses a Teddy Bear and has it attack stuff for you. It's pink, and terrifying. Come to think of it that series has a lot of weird weapons and over-the-top animations.

The Experimental MIRV from Fallout 3.
In what world would you ever need 8 MINI NUKES!?!?!
Really, I only fired this weapon once to see what it did.

Doesn't the Saints Row series have the unconventional weapons market cornered? Both SR3 and GTA San Andreas allowed you to beat people with a purple dildo.

You know that Alex Kid had some pretty big fists.
How did he get them so big?

An arm.

Can't think of anymore, I'll get back to you.
I loved how that was the best weapon you could find for the first portion of the game :p on a similar note, I present the Severed Nord Leg:

That one was a little less functional - I had maxed out Blunt and Strength and I couldn't even kill a Riekling before it ran out of durability :(
What game is that eq? looks a bit like asherions call.
