Nippon Ichi Software, creators of such gems like Disgaea, Soul Nomad and Ar Tonelico and go under-appreciated and as a result can't get any of the other stuff outside of Japan.
I liked the first Disgaea well enough, but my future experience with NIS just seemed that they were just putting out SRPGs that were more and more needlessly convoluted (I finally stopped buying them after "Phantom Brave"). Do they do any other genres, more traditional JRPGs, for example, that don't make it over here?

Volition. Freespace 2 and the saints row series and THQ still advertises their games like complete jackasses while the THQ CEO runs around complaining about used game sales. They deserve so much more based on freespace 2 alone.

Casting my vote for Spiderweb Software, RPG kings.

I'll toss in Actual Entertainment as well, even though they haven't done much.

Sadly, I don't know many really obscure ones. (Hipster fail). I could name indie "studios" I have been part of but that would be cheating.

Radon Labs - the only company that was still producing true D&D CRPGs for PC, after the massive decline from BioWare: Drakensang: The River of Time, The Dark Eye: Drakensang. Filed for the bank bankruptcy last year.

Troika Games - people behind first Fallout game: Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Closed.

Shame they didn't know that to survive in gaming industry one has to produce tasteless and depersonalized FPS games, instead of striving for niche products.

NovaLogic. They made Tachyon: The Fringe a hile back and, speaking as a fan of space sims, it was a bloody good one. One of their most popular games and, oddly enough, the only one without any sequels. Unlike Delta Force, which has thousands.

S2 games, makers of Savage and HON. sure they only have 3 games but they are all good and they also have the habit of making their games free after a year or 2. This probably is because the owner is a gamer who just happens to be really good at making money and S2 games is more his hobby then his business
Meanwhile, in League of Legends....

I'd agree with S2. I loved Savage, and since I've tried HON I think league of legends is absolutely terrible and I really can't think of something in it that I don't like. It is a shame league of legends is more popular so it builds more atrocious brand loyalty. At least it keeps most of the bastards out.
