Most Underrated Game Series Ever?

I know that there's been a topic about the most underrated game, but I'm referring more to an entire series of games that you feel should get more press than it does.

Personally, I always felt the Twisted Metal series was one of the best series to be created in the Playstation era. Twisted Metal 1 was a pretty revolutionary game given there had really been nothing like it, and Twisted Metal 2 had an awesome comic book-style presentation and greatly improved gameplay. Sure, the stories and characters in Twisted Metal 3 and 4 were pretty lame, but gameplay was still pretty much the same, plus it was being made by a different company. And I think Twisted Metal: Black is one of the most disturbing games I've ever played. Plus, Calypso (the antagonist of the series) has always been one of my favorite antagonists, mostly because he had this sort of dark elegance to him in the early games, which morphed into a really horribly evil character for Black.

Anyway, there's my rant. What about you? What series of games do you think is really underrated?

Right now, very unfairly I might add, the Halo series.

Also I've beaten this dead horse for a while but Otogi deserved a lot more attention than it did, as the only hack and slash game I actually like.

Baldur's Gate, the people I've talked to have never heard of it. I'm sure people here have though. But that's due to the escapist having fine taste.

I personally loved that game! But did they ever make another one? But i think the most underrated game is most likely Earth Defense Force 2017. Sure it doesn't have GOD graphics but even through the game glitches it has my vote for the greatest game on earth! Just buy it, trust me, its worth the money.

Yup, called Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner. It had stunning cel-shaded graphics.

There was also a Game Boy one...but we forget about that one.

I really loved the Timesplitters series on the original Xbox, and I don't remember a single commercial for that at all, and I haven't heard much about it from anybody, either. Ever. It was so much fun, and, for its time, it had a lot of really amazing levels and weapon choices! I loved it!!!

Oddworld Strangers wrath. We have an unfinished plotline because of YOU! Yes, you, the reader, I can see you, with your beady little eyes and your money grubbing little fingers, YOU SAW THE GAME IN THE STORE! Did you buy it? Noooo... You went and bought another game... I BLAME YOU!

(if you bough OWSW, then disregard that entire starement...)

Yeah, Baldur's Gate and the sequel (and even spiritual successor Icewind Dale) were very fun little games. And I'm not even a big fan of RPGs unless I'm in the right mood. But the writing was really good and the characters all distinct and well-developed. If they made more RPGs like BG1 and 2, I'd probably be a fan of the genre. Alas, the last two big western RPGs, Oblivion and Fable, were both colossally underwhelming, set in rather bland open worlds and featuring a stable of stick-figures as NPCs.

The lack of a sequel to that game made me contemplate genocide.

I've heard of that...was it related, in story or whatever, to the original Oddworld games? I loved Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, but that's the only game in the series I picked up.
