The search bar function is down, but I don't believe this thread has been done

Who was an important person in the history of the world who you believe does not get any credit for actions the person may have done.

For me, it is John Brown. This man practically started the abolitionist movement in America and barely gets any credit. He raided the US armory(or something along the lines of that) and set up base with hundreds of slaves.

In our American History books, not only does he get barely any credit, but the books hint him as some kind of anarchist who was bent on destroying the American way of life. And what is this event the cost him his life shadowed by? The Alamo.

The Alamo still to this day gets more respect and honor, when ironically, the war in which the Alamo took place was caused by Mexico trying to get rid of Slavery. So the man who goes off on a suicide mission in the name of freedom for man gets shunned by a bunch of Rednecks who are invading a country that has nothing to do with them, all in the name of slavery. And our history books decide that that was more important

Norman Borlaug [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Borlaug] Look him up. It's a miracle his name isn't widespread. He ranks high on my personal list of favorite peoples.

EDIT: I double-checked my list - he's at the fucking peak. I wouldn't have learn about this man if I didn't watch Penn and Teller's Bullshit. (Fantastic show, BTW.)

Osamu Tezuka. He's the God of manga, and no one else has created so much manga that's still so good, and yet any manga fans I meet have never read anything of his.

Jefferson Davis, believer of the rights of many against the few. Top notch leader. Yet history always claims he is "evil" ironically he was not, he was never evil.

Tezuka is great. Certainly underrated, but I don't he'd be high on the list. Maybe the top 50s?

I was going to say Mustafa Kemal Atatürk but I agree that Norman Borlaug is probably more important.

Incidently I don't think we hate Kublai Kham for his botched invasion of Japan enough.

How do you get the idea to transport a cavalry army in riverboats on the open sea? Let alone doing it in typhoon season? Bloody idiot.

Nicola Tesla. He did a shitload of inventions, and some got 'stolen' by other scientists(or so they say). And he invented the Tesla Coil. How awesome is that? It's like a Van de Graaff generator, only diferent, and can be used to zap US Grizzly tanks.

Nikola Tesla.

Without his advancements in electricity technology would've never gotten to where it is today.

Bruce Lee, no joke. He's the guy that bridged the Western culture to the East. Really interesting documentaries.I think this is the one I am talking about:

Imagine life without his movies,or without all of the martial arts being shared with the entire world by them.

Norman Borlaug. Made huge advancements in agricultural science that saved hundreds of millions, if not billions, from starvation.

Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. A true musical gem, forgotten by the world.

Historically wise, Millicent Fawcett is overly ignored. She fought tirelessly for women's suffrage in the UK for decades, without ever resorting to violence.

Nikola Tesla. This guy made Einstein look like an average man. He really did, too, they used to work together.

He made AC electricity, the magnetic generators, Tesla coil, and a lot of cool stuff.
