To be fair, those snipers weren't really enemies so much as they were just part of the obstacle course.

OT:The insta-grenade spawning AI in any CoD veteran mode. How the HELL does a grenade get BEHIND you when you're in a room facing the only doorway.

Mudcrabs in Oblivion. They were so hard, i turned and ran whenever I saw one. They deserved that dramatic battle music.

Just for something different, kinda along the lines of the MW juggernaught though I guess, but slightly more annoying IMO.

Heavily armoured soldiers in Army of Two. You're both covered head to bloody toe in armour yet they literally take fuck all damage and you soak up bullets like you're clad paper cups.

Anyone here play Dark Messiah of Might and Magic? Those goddamn spiders were everywhere, they were insanely hard to kill, and their poison will fucking kill you if they so much as touch you. Unless you have an antidote potion, of course. Which is only one use and doesn't protect you from subsequent bites, when you're standing right in the middle of a swarm of them. Did I mention you only get ten or so antidotes up until the time you meet your first spiders? You're going to die in here, man. You're going to die.
Thanks, now I have to start my day off remembering those bastards. I think I had to godmode through that part on my first playthrough as I just didn't have enough healing potions or arrows for my archer to take them down. And I hadn't learned Heal.
I also hated the ghouls just because of the damage they could soak up. Used to get them to chase me to somewhere with spikes or a cliff so I could kick them into/off it.

This. I hate em I hate em I HATE them. Always flying in that ridiculous pattern, knocking you back twenty feet and you always, always face them in rooms filled with pitfalls and hard jumping puzzles, meaning one hit drops you toward instant death. WHY ARE THEY IN EVERY GAME?!??

I could nominate a whole bunch of enemies here...

But I'm going to go with two from X-COM: UFO Defense (UFO: Enemy Unknown, if you prefer).

First off, Sectoid Leaders and Commanders. If any aliens see one of your troops, the sectoid leader/commander can see all your agents. Forever. It will then make several attempts per turn to mind control, berserk or panic them. This ends hilariously poorly.

Second, anything with a blaster bomb launcher. A blaster bomb is a nuke the size of a US football, which follows a path of up to nine waypoints, including into areas the enemy can't see (again, obvious issues combined with the seeing-everything ability of sectoid leaders and commanders), with pinpoint accuracy. Then everything explodes forever. Short of a miracle, no agent or tank can survive a blaster bomb. In fact, the surrounding landscape often doesn't survive - it'll be shattered, smoking and very much on fire.

Third? Ethereals. Imagine sectoids commanders. Done? Good. Now increase its firing accuracy, speed and reactions by a whole lot, make it almost as tough as a tank (often tougher, in my experience) and capable of flight. Also, they're all psychic, and far better at it than any sectoid can possibly hope to be.

Ethereal and Sectoid commanders are almost always equipped with blaster bomb launchers. When this happens? Weep and pray for death.

the kind of enemy that knocks you down and into a corner, then before you can get back up they do it again...and again...and again...and of coarse they are blocking the only path between you and the objective.

For me, it's the God damn Jackal snipers of Halo 2, for 3 reasons.

1. One shot kill
3. Could hit you across the map.
3. They were EVERYWHERE! Anyone who played the level Outskirts on Legendary could attest. There were around 20 in that level, and the moment you walked out of cover, you could get murdered in a second.
I loved that in legendary, to me it made the game a bit of a challenge.

Sounds like Jinpaichi Mishima from Tekken 5. I don't know about that one, but Jinpaichi can never be bested as cheapest enemy ever. At most he can be equaled.

Point being, that besides the usual roll of cheap attacks most beat'em up bosses have (think SFIV Seth, Virtua Fighter Dural, etc), he also has one attack, which he loves to spam, that's absolutely unbeatable. One of the fastest attacks in the game, highest priority, absurd radial range that's bigger than any other attack in the game barring Devil Jin's and Jinpaichi's ranged attacks, has almost instant recovery, can not be blocked, and stuns you for at least 5 to 10 seconds.

With that he can combo whatever the fuck he wants. With most cheapy enemies like Seth you can at least guarantee a victory if you either play the perfect match or at least abuse the AI... But not Jinpaichi, since that's such a failsafe move that beating him becomes about how much he feels like using that one move. I've had matches where I've dropped him to a good 5-ish % health, while being on full health, and he essentially decides "fuck you, I wanna win". Spams that shit out of nowhere and proceeds to stun lock me to death.

Whomever put that one fucking move in the game needs to be kicked in gonads till their heads explode.

Does Azazael from Tekken 6 count? Because that ************ will block all your damn attacks and still kick your ass a 1000 times until you beat him.

But i have learned his pattern now...and now it is I that deliver the ass whopping.

I don't think they were too bad as they were very slow to lock onto you and plentiful cover is provided to get you close enough to grenade them.

I have got to submit the end boss from Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force. While he stands behind an impenetrable force field he makes the land underneath you explode - great

Those headless assholes from Serious Sam that run at you and blow up. They spawn from God knows where, run really fast, and do a mass amount of damage if they kamikaze your ass, and still do a lot if they aren't killed from a metric city block away.
They do not run faster than player.
As for me the cheapest enemy would be the one which explodes near you or even on death.
This is the reason I hate later parts of dead space and whole minecraft.

Needlers from Silent Hill: Homecoming anyone? You can't attack them from the front, their attacks can take away a quater of your health, and to top it all off, they look like a crab, a human and four knives had a baby!

You certainly don't.

As for my contribution to the thread...
Spiders. I fucking hate them. You see, I have arachnophobia. Scorpions are pretty bad too, but not nearly as bad as spiders. (let's not even talk about mudcrabs)
I hate it when I have to fight them for this pretty obvious reason. But I do anyway. Why?
Beause fuck spiders, that's why.
