For me, it was Metroid Prime. Playing it through wasn't bad, and it's still a really fun game. But one day, I decided "Hey, Samus wouldn't be hearing all this background music, so I'll go for a more realistic experience by turning the music off." Yeah, more realism in a metroid game is like making a chihuaha less annoying by tying a bow to it's head. But I digress.

Anyway, there are all kinds of sounds in that game that go on in the background that are completely obscured by the music. I highly suggest trying it out sometime.

So, what's the most unintentionally creepy game you've ever played?

The legend of zelda Majoras Mask

I was gonna say it before anyone else would.

That damn freak in the clocktower scared me to hell

I'll have to try that out in metroid prime.

The Clock Tower Games, being a little girl with no means of defending yourself inside a giant puzzle with crazy shit trying to kill you was super freaky.

Someone forgot the meaning of the word "unintentional."

Kingdom Hearts. When you stop to think about it, you're controlling a deformed child who's only allies are two mentally unstable furries in a bid to save the fucking universe. He encounters several adults along the way, and they seem perfectly at ease with this. Yeah, nothing odd about that at all.

Any of the recent Elder Scrolls games. Every single NPC looks like they're either soulless or robots.

Strange things started to happen to me when I reached West Elizabeth in Red Dead Redemption. My horse dropped dead for no reason, I was attacked by an invisible creature, and a sharp shooter bet me $0 that I couldn't shoot more birds than him (there were no birds in the sky.) All of this was going on at night no less.

Ecco the Dolphine: Defender of the future for the PS2 (originally dreamcast). I've always been kinda creeped out when it comes to exploring dark underwather areas...and thats where about 2/3 of the game takes place

I don't know why but even though I love the series, something about timesplitters 2 always freaked me out. Same with Halo 2. I can't pin it down but these games always freaked me out a bit.

Ace Combat 5, the mission "Sea of Chaos". 'The Journey Begins' playing back on a record player is the song of death when it reminds me that I took the lives of thousands of sailors.
