I can think of two songs that are unsettling, from some of my favorite artists.

It sounds sinister and the lyrics are very creepy.

But It's especially disturbing if you read the true story its based on.

Isn't there a whole sub-sub-sub (x36) genre of hardcore devoted to songs like that? I dislike hardcore but some of the songs that are written are just overly pushing to be controversial.

I don't remember if this was posted on The Escapist before or not, but I heard the song and it made me uncomfortable and sad, and it's haunting above all else. The title says everything you need to know.

Of all the artists I'd have expected something like that from Motorhead was at the bottom of the list.

Maybe that one just put me in the thought pattern for this song to pop to mind.

Better with headphones. Listen to the background, though you might not want to. Me and this song are friends.

I believe these fine folks invented industrial music...

Read lyrics along with this, I would post them but someone would probably hurt me.

I like reading into the lyrics. Making an interpretation and then looking to what actually inspired them.
I've always found the things coming from disturbed minds or directly influenced from them are particularly haunting.
The first two listed were based off of shootings and written in the perspective of the person behind the gun, the last was written while in a marriage that was falling apart (though it can apply to many situations, and it has a feeling to it that I can describe as eerie, dreadful and frustrated).

Peter Gabriel "Family Snapshot"
Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays"
Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight"

They are all pretty catchy, but creepy upon deeper analysis.
Figured it would be cheating to put atmospheric instrumental tracks that were meant to elicit fear and the sensation of being uncomfortable.

As far as disturbing songs go, pick just about any song from the first two vehemence cds. I't actually bums me out a bit how disturbing the lyrics are as I really enjoy their music but feel a bit ill when I can't block out the lyrics. Fair warning to anyone who wants to look up their lyrics, they are mostly about sexual violence and written in a manner that makes me think the writer has more of an interest in the subject then just for the sake of shock value.

A lot of Purity Ring's stuff is really disturbing when you read into it, but this one especially creeps me out.

This one always freaks me out for some reason. It starts alright, but after a while it goes all pinky plonky, and it's kinda the same music they use in horror films sometimes. It starts about 2 min in to it.

Always skip the song when it comes to that bit.

A song by Hollywood Undead called Bullet. The singing and the music sound all happy, but the song is about suicide.
I love that song, also HU are one of my favorite bands. The song can be a little off-putting, but I find that it's strangeness is undercut by the fact that everyone in the band is still very much alive.

Which don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Pink Floyd in general unsettles me. I don't know what it is about him, but I just can't listen to him unless I am aiming to make myself feel uncomfortable.
You do realise that Pink Floyd is a band? It isn't a single person called Floyd.

OT: Some of Tool's stuff is pretty weird. I personally think it's awesomely weird, but it creeped the hell out of some of my family.

That one even creeps me out. That noise at the end... fuuuuck.
Schism is weird too, it just feels so unnatural 'cos the time signature is all 6/8 7/8 alternating. And it has those bizarre droning noises in some places. Plus there's the music video...
Also Meshuggah's stuff is creepy. Again, weird time signatures, polyrhythms, all sounding really unnatural and basucally inhuman. Creeeeepy. Bleed takes the cake for that because of how utterly deranged it is, I think, but pretty much any of their stuff counts.

Glitch music is generally pretty damn weird too. Just Wikipedia it and listen to he sample on the page. Da fuck?

I had already answered that question on the first page. Yes I am well aware it is a band.
