In lots of games there are bugs, most the time they are annoying, or make it so all your hard work goes to waste as you can no longer beat the game because the npc you needed to talk to walk off the face of the earth and can't be found. However, some games have bugs that help you out, like Fallout 3's new expansion which allows you to steal weapons that never loose condition. Now I know lots of online games have bugs that help the person exploiting but makes everyone else hate them, so try to not mention bugs that make others hate people who use them :)

I think that exploiting bugs is cheating.
However, i remember that in Deus Ex 1 you could use the strenght biomod to push someone to a wall ( using a couch), instantly killing him. most of the characters that are a part of the main plot are unkillable, and carry fancy weapons, so it's a good way to get the best weapons at the beggining of the game. Finding ammo is another problem.

Saint's Row had a bug that let you instantly enter any vehicle by jumping on top of it and pressing Y-- so much easier than running alongside the car, opening the door and dragging the driver out.

Halo 2 had a couple glitches you could use to get out of bounds or just very fast to a place.

Sword canceling, super jumping, sword canceling in cars and then exiting the vehicle, hitting teammates with vehicles while having having the handicap option turned on, standing on flipped tanks and pressing x...

Most of them were removed by patches though, but it was fun times.

Right now, the buggy AI in Empire: Total War makes defending islands a breeze. I'm hoping Creative Assembly patches the AI naval transport bug sooner rather than later, because it's just ridiculous that I can declare war on Great Britain and leave France completely undefended.

Well that does make little sense, but I remember winning defensive battles with one horse man by running him around in circles against a 1000 strong army. So making clever AI's does appear to be their downside. (this was in medieval not rome)

Does it only work in the computer version of the game or on xbox too?

The physics exploit that allows Wavedashing and Wavelanding in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Wavedashing lets you use a complicated input to skip the jumping and landing animations and dash across the stage at unusual speeds: at the competitive level, mastering the exploit is a prerequisite to winning with some characters, as you can use jabs, smash attacks and shield grabs out of wavedash.

Also, jump-cancelled grabs and lag-cancelled aerials are similarly useful in reducing the time between actions.

I found a bug in Titan Quest which helped a lot, the boss just froze so instead of a long drawn out fight that I would most likely lose all I had to do was just keep attacking and hope he didn't unfreeze.

Strafe-jumping and/or bunny hopping. Can't be good at FPS without knowing one of those.
