The foam hand in Dead Rising 2.
Yeah, that. I was gonna say the spray can alone, but it kinda has a use. ... No, it's useless too, save use for combining stuff.

So i ask you, in your opinion, what is the most useless weapon in gaming?
Persnaly i say the Chinese pistol from Fallout 3.
Remember when the knife used to be the most useless weapon in games? But then it became a quick-key executable, with one hit insta kill and massive lunge distance... well then it got out of hand.

Nowadays I'd say the pistol is the pointless one. They are so weak and inaccurate, with small capacity and slow rate of fire. Sure, games like COD may have a SLIGHTLY quicker draw time but barely better than reload cancelling and when you reload a gun then you have a full-auto assault rifle compared to a weak ass semi-auto pistol.

I say to cure the weak-sauce of pistols is the same as for grenades and knife mount it as a quick-draw button. Just like how grenade was moved to shoulder button to draw and throw, the pistol should be on a shoulder button so holding one draws the weapon (to be fired by pulling the trigger) and holstered again as soon as the button is released.

Though weaker than Half Life 2's gravity gun is something which I think is unforgivable is the iconic Crowbar. IT'S USELESS! Especially once you have the gravity gun, you never need the crow bar at all. I'll tell you how to fix the crowbar:

-give it a much long reach
-a wide "sweep motion" so you don't have to be precise (it's like a shotgun, wide spread)
-hold to "charge-up" a hit, as if raising high over head
-Most of all: give it a long stun lock

This would make it a really effective weapon then, you could scrap in close quarters, as the stun lock means you don't have to take a few pieces of lead in your fillings before you take them out. I'm telling you, stun-lock is the difference between a fun melee weapon and an annoying one. At distance with a fast firing weapon I can avoid getting hit but not at point blank.

Splash in Pokemon games and bubble gun from Just Cause 2. At least the latter looks hilarious.

Guns in Bioshock 2 once you got the Drill Charge and upgrades...

Not to mention you can make far too many Gurren Lagann references per minute if you play pure Drill...

Strange version of the Boston Basher
I'm so sorry. Irony like that must really suck. I don't have a Strange weapon, but I've got a friend (read: Fayathon) who has Strange Jarate, while I don't even have my achievement Jarate. He tries to rub it in my face whenever he can.[footnote]Also, Fayathon, if you're reading this, don't deny that you do that![/footnote]

But what can I say? I'm a horrible Sniper, which is odd, because I prefer and excel at sniping in all other FPS games I play.

Also, are you interested in trading sometime? I've got a few weapons I'm looking for.

I've gotta say the shortswords in Terraria are absolutely shit. They're only applicable to things that come at you on flat ground and that don't jump about. And even then if there's more than one coming at you, you're screwed.

Any sniper rifle in Borderlands.

I loved the idea of the hunter with SR subclass, for the fluff of the concept and because hell, I could, in theory, one or two hit kill and pick off dudes from across the desert before they could reach me to beat my head in. a sound strategy.

I then realized that unless you score a headshot, you could spend an entire clip trying to kill one dude, and scoring a headshot was next to impossible because the area of affect (idk the technical term) was so tiny it was equivalent to hitting a pinhead with a fucking dart at range. My character was about as useful to the party as Navi.
Hitbox I believe the term is. I couldn't get into sniping because of the bullets not going where I point the gun at. Not cool doing that on SR's Borderlands, not cool.

OT: Ratchet & Clank 2: the Clank backpack laser thing. You get it so late, and it does so little damage. The Tesla Shield and mini turrets were also passive weapons that did more dps by a long shot.
If you pick up any of the volcano snipers towards the end you might find them pretty effective. I could usually down an enemy in one shot, and they always caught fire. I really wish you could hold your breath or something though, as the constantly moving sight did make headshots a tad too difficult to pull off.
Yeah, but as you said, towards the end. I like sticking to one combat style per playthrough, so changing to snipers when I'd prefer to be chilling with whatever I had been beforehand wouldn't suit me.

The wrench from Bioshock.
"Wat you got ter do is zap em, den whack em. Remember, deh One-Two punch!"

Beyond that kindly Irish accented advice is an indication of quite how ridiculously powerful the Wrench is. As when the enemies are stunned, the wrench does 400% damage and that is ON TOP OF base damage-enhancement + unaware bonuses.

http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Wrench

So a single Wrench hit can deal ALMOST FOUR THOUSAND HP OF DAMAGE!!! That will insta-kill ANYTHING in the game except a big-daddy (that only take 25% from any wrench attack) even then that means some can be killed with only 3 stun-hit combos.

When I play Bioshock I always have the wrench selected for general encounters, if I came across a splicer I'd run right over and bop them in the head before they noticed me. BAM! Insta kill. I even got good hitting spider splicers on the ceiling jumping up and swinging at just the right moment, my god it's so god damn satisfying cracking splicer's skulls and sending them flying. Nothing was safe. Also, with thuggish splicers I really got good at dodging their attack, dipping in and out of striking range and dodging to the left against large lunges (that are quite telegraphed) even leadhead splicers can be exploited at close range circle strafing. Any time a spider splicer tries to backflip away from me I whack their cranium with the wrench on the

See, in Bioshock the only tonics that increase your weapon damage are for the wrench. It becomes the most powerful weapon in the game when used correctly.

Now. Would you kindly go play Bioshock again and give the Wrench another chance.

Either the Foam Hand in Dead Rising 2, Flamethrower in Dead Space, or the Fat Man in Fallout 3. I just sold the Fat Man whenever I got it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Giant's Knife. Or was the Biggorin Sword? I forget which one sucked. Remember how that went down? You spent all that time getting the bigger wallets to hold the cash to get the sword, FINNALLY did it, went "WAHOO!!!" and started hitting the walls until "CLANG!!!"

...

It broke... IT BROKE?!?!?

Obviously the most frustrating moment in that game. All the time you spent getting the sword, gone... Just like that...
I'm pretty sure that's the Giant's Knife because the Biggorin Sword doesn't break. Atleat thats what I can remember. (I don't feel like looking it up to double check)

Edit: Forgot to contribute to the OT.

OT: For me it would have to be the minigun/chaingunthing from Doom2. I never used the damn thing unless I ran out of ammo on the other weapons. I can't really think of anything else...

Oh the PEPS thing from Deus Ex: HR, useless.

The starting weapons in Borderlands. Made even more useless by the fact that there's a weapons chest with better weapons right there in the starting area.

I wonder if anybody has ever tried to a run through with just the starting weapon?

Destroyer would take goddamn HOURS.

Im actually going to say the 5-seeker missle shot frm metroid Prime 2/3 I only ever used it to open doors, or on whatever boss demanded to be touched in 5 places at once. Anything else you might as well spend 5 missles to shove a proper Super-missle into their brain.

Without going through 7 pages to see if it's been said before, I'm going with the Fork of Horripilation from the Shivering Isle's

Though it is, without a doubt, one of the more satisfying weapons to kill things with.

THIS! my god this!! in any and every cart/racing game that has the banana peel as a weapon just uses it as a pointless fill.

It barely takes up a few inches on a tracks that could easily be 15-20 feet wide. It also sticks out like a sore thumb, and can be seen for miles down the track.

if anyone gets this (and don't tell me that you don't) would go "F@ck this Sh!t" and drop it instantly prefering to rather go on empty than carry it around. Even the NPC dose this.

and what do you get if the stars lined up and allowed for a competitor to hit it. About a second delay.

I'd say the Razorback in Team Fortress 2, unless the Spy backstabbing you is a complete retard.

Honestly, if you check and see if the Sniper you're about to kill has one, then it's simple; switch to the revolver and BANG.
