maybe she's one of those beauty pageant show girls. That stuff can be brutal, and you need every advantage you can get.

The mom looks jacked up though so maybe she should stop.

And I'm kinda curious as to what wrinkles an 8 year old has that need to be gotten rid of and look unsightly.

EDIT: as to whehter the child should be taken away, as long as its not posing a threat to her health, I dont see anything wrong with it really. its her child, and she's not really hurting her. Its no better then the parents that let their kids dress like whores and get pierced to hell.

'Future? What future? She looks good now! Why bother thinking about her future job, or looks, or self-esteem. Nah, she doesn't NEED a future...'

The mother got this 'idea' from other mothers... This pageant should be banned.

Poor kid already prefers the look of her face with Botox injections, over natural "unladylike wrinkles". No kid that age should have to think about those things.

...I'm sorry, I really am, because I know there are many people here who would disagree with me, and that it sometimes turns into a big debate. But I'm going to take this opportunity anyways.

*clears throat* Parenting licenses.

That's it.

Up-ba-ba-ba. It is hurting her. And while I am not in favour of girls with tattoos and piercings (unless it's cultural, I tend to respect that), the difference is in letting and doing.

This may be similar to a mother who does piercings and tattoos doing it on her child, until the child simply got used to it. Though that may be a few too many changed variables, I'm not sure.

I have a problem with it, though I will look at it from your side, and respect if you don't.

yeah, but i mean its not anything physically long lasting or disfiguring (in a negative societal way).

And there's not much different there. The child's eight, so regardless of if you're letting or doing, it doesnt matter. You're still consenting to cause your child pain, so you should be arrested either way.

Dont get me wrong, I think its stupid and sick, just, I dont see whats wrong with it because its just not as bad as say what my grandfather and uncle did to me to help me fulfill that "boys are manly men" mentality. Plus, I can kinda see the argument, cause once you're a beauty pageant mom, you have a completely different psychological view.

EDIT:
Besides

I'm tempted to agree on the breathing license... it's an interesting idea...

But back to cereal world here, I'm pretty sure botox can have long lasting side effects, though I won't claim to know, so you can disregard that. However, it seems someone else here knows someone who does know.

The child should be sent to child services. Not only could this easily, easily kill her if her mother does anything wrong, but the longterm effects such as reduced emotional response (see link above) is unforgivable. The child hasn't got a clue what's being done to her. This woman shouldn't be living her dreams through her child. Disgusting.
But, I didn't read that, so you can make your own conclusion with the given information. And I will consent, the doing and letting, while a seemingly moral difference, has essentially the same end result. But I won't accept the "it's not as bad" argument. What they did and what she did are two different things, and whether or not one's worse, that wouldn't make the lesser right. Sometimes we need compromise in our lives, and sometimes we can't settle for less.

As for the beauty pageant mom mentality... I just disagree with that entire mentality. Being competitive for someone else's sake? It starts to objectify the daughter, and it's coming from a source this girl should trust more than any other. I think all mothers with the "beauty pageant mom" mentality need an evaluation. With the scenario in Little Miss Sunshine, that was the girl who wanted to be in it, not the mother forcing it on her, and the mother was just supportive... unless it's been longer than I thought since I've seen that movie. Regardless of what I described having been real or not, it's the scenario that's far more... agreeable.

Now, what's your opinion on instant death-penalty for hard-core criminals (crime bosses, serial killers/rapists, etc.) without desire to repent, proven guilty beyond shadow-of-a-doubt?

WE seem to be focusing to much on this one child, when it in fact the article states. Almost all beauty pageant moms do this.
1. Beauty Pageants should be banned, we have a reality show about the horribleness of them.
2. Beauty Pageant moms should go into rehab and a psychologist for a loooooong time.

Sooooo yeah....I had a lot of thoughts while reading this, some of them were:

-She should have her child taken off her
-She's too chubby to have wrinkles
-She's too young to have wrinkles
-How can her Mum care so much about appearences but doesn't seem to mind she is carrying quite a bit of extra luggage in her trunk
-Why hasn't her School taken notice that she has been coming to school with bruises/holes in her face?

Thoughts?

Companies ignoring a supposed cure for cancer cause it's not profitable, woman suing a lighthearted children's establishment for her own greed, mother sticking botox in her daughter's face...

It's a damn good day for the human race.
