As I sit here waiting for the car wash attendees to finish wiping down my lemon of a car, I realized that today is mother's day and I have absolutely no idea what I should get my mother. After years of her buying her own presents, I want to get her something really nice this time around. Any suggestions? Post an idea if you have one or brag about your perfect gift!

Edit: sorry to all of you from the U.K., mother's day in the US is the second Sunday in may every year, not in April like you Brits have.

OBLIGATORY POST OF THIS THING!

Honestly now, chocolates, unless they're diabetic. Flowers are good, unless they contain bees, or allergic. Now DVD's, so long as you know her tastes, are a guarantee.

Calumon: A song and dance! :D

Heh, my mom likes WoW and Final Fantasy. So I'm giving her either the soundtrack to WoW or FFX or FFXII.

I just bought her some nice expensive flowers.

There's really nothing practical or useful I can buy for her anyway. She usually just says, "Whatever you buy is fine, it's the thought that matters". Which is the most crummy advice you can give when asked for present suggestions.

My Mother lives nine hours way - and only ever really wants a call from her kids. So that's what I gave her. A call.

Or for your Mother, you could give her chocolates, flowers, a card - or just spend some quality time with her. Go to the movies, go shopping if that's what she likes to do, take a nice walk, etc. That's really the only advice I have.

Mothers are people too y'know, and like different things.

Personally, I got my mother a small book about cats. Breeds, biology, history, how to take care of them, that sort of thing. She's boring as fuck and doesn't have much interests. All I know is that she likes cats.

Why thank you. I certainly like to think so.
I also buy her a Star Trek season DVD for every christmas/bday and the movie last christmas.

And she stole my Star Trek com-badge pin.

I opted not to buy my mum a present and instead tell her that my love is so great it could not be measured in material objects

I personally don't bother, but wasn't Mother's Day like a month ago? I guess they do it differently from... whichever country you come from.

O.T. Flowers are a good idea, my Dad always gets some for his mum.
