Hahaha. Just be glad they don't go falling on you. My mother was on the toilet years and years ago, and she sat down, looked up, and tehre was this three-legged gecko on the celing abover. Then, to make it worse, it fell on her, while she was sitting on the loo. Hilarious story to tell to guests though.

OT: A candle ... in a large bowl that you don't mind getting covered in wax and burnt moths. Though you could always try forming a moth-man committe to negotiate the terms of your treaty.

Ahh you too. They are quite a scorge this time of year. So far the suggested use of fire, a screen on the window, or a fan good for chopping into tiny bits sound good. If you are killing a lot of them remember to properly dispose of the body. Those sick monsters eat their own dead if you give them the chance.

Now you just need to get some chimpanzees or something to deal with the geckos.
(the next person can decide what to use to get rid of the monkey problem you will then have)
..... that sentience gas stuff they use in the new planet of the apes film? so long as you treat the monkeys well, you should get along swimmingly, and will not have a flying shit problem.

and also, why not just ask the landlord to let you put in a screen? he/she cant be THAT unreasonable. besides that, all i can think of is get a fan of sorts, or one of those stand-up de-humidifiers/ac units, so you dont have to open those windows. its just a bit expensive for one of those, so thats the only real problem.

get a bug zapper and put it by the windows? that should help a good bit.

I usually just carry them outside, but I don't get that many in my house thanks to fly screens on all of my windows.
My suggestion would be to go around the problem and create a "fly screen like" thing to go over the window. If you can't, then just fly or take a cruise to Spain and talk to your landlord directly. Just bother him until he concedes and allows you to do whatever you want with your house.

It's that time of the year, it only comes around for a few weeks each year so we have to make the most of it (summer, in the UK)

I haven't got a hope in heck of sleeping at night without both of my windows wide open, but of course moths being the clever sods they are decide to fly into my room when the light is on, totally ignoring the curtains I have drawn in my futile attempts to stop them from harassing me.

So I put to you, what's the best way to get rid of/stop the Moth menace? Spiders are already a ***** but god dammit, I hate these moths with a passion. ESPECIALLY the giant ones that make a 'thud' when they fly into something, because they all fly like flippin idiots.

EDIT:

I don't bloody believe it.

Almost the second after I hit the 'post' button, a fecking giant moth just flew into my room. But NO! You wont fly back out the window or through the giant open door I just left you. No that's fine, go back to flying into the fecking wall and the lightshade, it's not like I care anyway.

get a bug zapper its also a bonus because you get to watch the little devils fry or one of thoose electric bug zapping tennis rackets

Get one of those screens that you don't have to keep in the window. They slide wide or narrow to fit and there's no screws or anything to damage the windowsill; the weight of the window keeps it in place.

Portascreen or google adjustable window screen. We use them in our apt and they're good stuff.

As long as they haven't invaded your pantry, I don't think you have a real problem. Yet. *shudder* I could never look at paper towels, chocolate, and flour the same way again...
Ugh! I had that problem in my old apartment. And moths are starting to appear in this one as well. I still don't know how to deal with them >:| Sorry, I'm not much help

My technique? Slaughter them all. Close all points of entry, arm yourself with a nice big book or a flyswatter if possible and kill every last one of them. You can be a dumbass... IN HELL!

Die moth, die.

An exposed light element, also known as a Bug Zapper is a great moth remover. Any insect attracted to light is flying dead around one. There are many designs. Manditory cabin equipment near insect infested lakes. Moth's will die even quicker as they usually don't get distracted by too much once they see the light.

Turn your light off and then put one on in another room they will fly out looking for the light. My big tough dad was terrified of moths, it was hilarious.

Oh also cats, but that might be just as annoying as it jumps on your head to get the moth -.-

Put some window screens up with ducktape or with staples. WHen your landlord comes back just take them down and use some spackle to fill in the holes.

Sounds like this is worthy of a trap in the other room. I have to say I am not too big a cat fan though.. While just jumping on your head to reach things I can deal with, when the cat plots against your face by hiding on a ledge near the doorway in an attempt to defile it when you walk by, I get a little annoyed.

If reading the bible has taught me anything it has taught me that large hardback books hurt like a *****, try using one of those.
Failing that depending on the size of the moth (and your aim) you can get a nerf gun (or just anything that shoots foam darts) and stick a toothpick (or anything sharp) in the end and then shoot them with it, I use it on spiders all the time.
Or just, you know, nuke them

You could put one of those fly traps near the lights. Those seem to work well for flies and similar bugs.

Can't you just get a collapsible screen to fit into your window? It comes in a frame and will adjust so it fits snugly into most windows. You can remove it at any time, and no structural changes need to be made. Check the hardware store or something. They're a wonderful invention.
