The way that, when a character wakes from a nightmare (We know its a nightmare, we've just been watching it) the point has to be hammered home by the character sitting bolt upright, possibly screaming, and always sweating.

Also, any pairing of a male and female where both dislike the other. Every fucking time, it turns out that they're being bitchy to hide their blossoming love. Why is it that Hollywood is incapable of understanding that sometimes people can just dislike each other without secretly wanting to hump each other?

The brilliant "Let's split up!" technique.
People who run from the horror villian when there are weapons a plenty to use as defense.

In action movies:
The dead friend turns up to save the day when the hero is about to get owned.
The final fight scene where the villian seems to have the upper hand, but he gets beaten at the last possible second. (so over used)
Mark Wahlberg (nuff said).

Cheesy feel good endings, predictable storylines, anything which doesn't have a shread of originality about it and has been done heaps of times before is annoying, because it kind of makes you wonder why you're watching the movie and why you've paid good money to see something which isn't original and has been done before. It's why I liked District 9 so much, I hadn't seen anything that original for ages.

I'm getting tired of cell phones in movies. They must be excruciatingly difficult to write around in a new or unique fashion, but it seems like a cop-out to me whenever a phone has no reception in a city or when the battery is suddenly dead or when a character leaves the phone at home or in the car. Cell phones and their popularity are killing the suspense and horror movie industry.

In a Video game thats relatively unknown the main Character has Blond Hair in the Mission Briefing of the First Game. After that He has Brown/Black hair. Same with his Father who was supposed to have the same blond hair lol.

My personal choice: the villian or one of his henchmen is standing over the hero(es) with a loaded weapon ready to fire, but someone gets the idea that they should be killed 'entertainingly'. And than they escape.

If you have a goatee, you are invariably evil.

The more actioney a scene gets, the worse the bad guys' aims are.

perfect example of both - the opening sequence of Baz Luhramn's adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Not only does Tybalt have the most goatee-ish and evil looking goatee I've ever seen, he also has a shootout in a petrol station with Benvolio, and aside from a slight shoulder graze on Benvolio's part, they both emerge totally unscathed even with the petrol station exploding all around them. And in Mercutio's death scene, he doesn't even bother with his gun, probably because he knows he'll miss even at point blank range, it being an emotional scene and all...

Something that irks me and is seen quite often is the ability to carry a lot of equipment around, only to be used when the situation arises. This might be justified when a character is seen carrying around a bunch of bags, but often this is not the case.
Examples:
Predator. The commando team are all shown throughout to not have all that much in the way of backpacks. They have a few ammo pouches but thats it. Yet, they wire up stuff with explosives, and have a few dozen meters of rope on them. The predator however takes the cake, though not as much in this movie as in the second where he carries a spear, weapon disk, shoulder cannon, gas mask, medical supplies, metal wire net and a gauntlet.

Equilibrium. Just where in the hell does Bale keep all that ammo and his guns in the final scene. It's not like hes wearing a roomy
