Cmon even revenge of the sith is better than return of the jedi. The movies whole plot is"oh the had another death star" and then freakin ewoks somehow pwn the troopers...oh the agony.
The only real good part is the resolution with the remaining 3 jedis.
I wouldn't go that far with it being worse than Revenge of the Sith, atleast Return of the Jedi had likeable characters and people you cared about but to even pretend its better than Empire Strikes Back is madness. Madness I say!

There are many movie trillogies that start with good movies with promising ideas but have really bad 3rd installments (The Matrix, The Godfarther) and I am sick of hearing about them So lets name some good ones.

My top 3 are The Return of the King, Back to the future part 3 and Indy and the Last Crusade (Shut up the are 3 and OBLY 3 Indy movies).
Pff whatever the 4th Indy movie is the best I mean come on there is aliens in it and look at those special effects. I'd say its the best of all time.

I'm going to go completely opposite you, and say Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was not only better than The Temple of Doom, but also the best Indiana Jones movie of the three (There was never a true sequel to Indy 3 in my book. Decent movie, would have been better if it hadn't been labeled Indiana Jones. Way to much to live up to).
Hmm, maybe it is just my nostalgia calling (Temple of Doom was my first Indy film, and I used to watch that to death when I was really young). The whole heart-tearing, pit-lowering, crowd-yelling, drum-playing scene while Indy and his companions watched from the top is still one of my all-time favourite film scenes.

As for the newer one, I actually thought it was decent. While Indy's son-sidekick guy was somewhat annoying, he wasn't downright irritating. The storyline I thought was pretty cool too. It wasn't a terrible film.
I've always found it funny that, to me, the best Indiana Jones films were the ones where he was fighting Nazis. Dont get me wrong, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is an OK movie, but it lacked the feel of the previous three movies, and shouldn't have been released as an Indiana Jones movie. Maybe they could have even started a semi-modern Indiana Jones, like make it one of Indy's students from the 30's who followed in his favorite proffesor's footsteps. Then they can get Indiana Jones in for a last hurrah, maybe taking him (the student) in as his Intern or something, and they could start a new series for a new generation that may or may not have seen the original trilogy of movies.

And whoever though Shia LaBouf would be good in a movie that had always been serious, with some funny that was carfully put in, when the only movies he had done were Holes, actually a really good movie, and Transformers, cramed in funny with next to no seriousness in it, except for the parts he wasn't in, really needed to get fired. Unless it was Harrison Ford. Then we just, I don't know, shake our heads I guess.

Well I've never seen Transformers, so I have no idea what this Shia guy is like outside of Crystal Skull. Nazis usually make very good antagonists (though I would love to see a brave director try them in a positive light for a change) as is seen in Raiders and Crusade. I'll agree that the Russians simply don't compare though as far as the films go. They just didn't seem very intimidating. That said, I prefer the dark nature of underground cultists preforming rituals over Nazis, so there may be a little bias there on my behalf.

Regardless of tastes though, I think it would be best to lay the franchise to rest here. Crystal Skull wasn't terrible, so it isn't ending on a necessarily bad note. But if they continue, it very well may. And that would be a shame.

The bigger plot-hole with the second Death Star is why there are only two of them and not a whole bunch of them. Obviously the first one worked (outside of that one little flaw) so why just make a second one and not mass-produce them? There could have very well been more all over the Galaxy. Also the final saber-battle between Vader and Skywalker was great. Hell, everything that happened inside of the second Death Star was freaking awesome. I liked saber battles a lot more when it was more like Bushido. The fast battles are cool but seem to be more style-over-substance.

Also: I did really like Revenge of the Sith now that you mention it. I almost completely forgot about what happens in Attack of the Clones (except for that Yoda bit) but, I liked Revenge.

I just saw Men in Black 3, and I'd say it was better than MIB2. Though MIB 1 is still the best of the three.

Nightmare On Elm Street III: The Dream Warriors is definately the BEST in the whole series. Can't get enough of that movie.

Can't think of any other third movies that are the best, but here's some that are still very good:
Return Of The jedi
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
Toy Story 3 (I prefer it to TS2)
Evil Dead 3: Army Of Darkness
The Brave Little Toaster Goes To Mars
Aladdin And The King Of Thieves
Chasing Amy (technically a stand alone movie in a wider continuity)
Predators
Rambo III
Rocky III
The Return Of The Pink Panther

That's all I can think of right now

Someone likes Back To The Future Part 3 the best? I didn't even think that was possible :S
I don't think he's saying these are cases where the third movie is "the best", they're just cases where the third movie is really good. Personally, I think BTTF3 is the worst of the trilogy, but that doesn't make it bad at all.

Die Hard with a Vengeance

It was a return to form. And personally I enjoyed it more than the first film on account that this time around every extra character was smart and capable, and wasn't just simply there to be incompetent in order to make the hero look better.

Die Hard with a Vengeance is pretty damn awesome.

OT: MIB3, Return of the King, The Borne Ultimatum, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Toy Story 3, and some others.

Ninja'd. Such a good film.

OT: Other than Die Hard I cant think of a series where the third installment was my favorite. sure there are some that have good endings (Indiana Jones, LotR, Back to the Future, Star Wars: Original Trilogy, Toy Story, ect...) but none where I would say the third was the best.

I imagine it takes rather a long time to build something that large. At the end of Revenge Of The Sith, the framework had barely been completed, but they apparently hadn't even tested it until somewhere in A New Hope, implying it had been finished recently. If you factor in the work force required, mass producing them would hardly be practical.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I honestly found the third Pirates of the Caribbean film to be the most enjoyable.

The Bourne Ultimatum is the best Bourne movie imho.

Toy Story 3 is awesome, though you can debate forever if it's the best one.
Pretty much this. Bourne and Toy Story 3. Also Godfather 3.

Also, Halo 3 was the best Halo.
Oi! I see that...clever girl. But this is a thread for movies!

I liked the entire Highlander trilogy as a whole. Although I do need to see them again.

I agree I enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean 3 much more that 1 and 2 and think it was better than 4 as well
Indy the last crusade is also my favourite of the four although Crystal Skull was still good in its own right

The 3rd Indiana Jones (The Last Crusade) is easily the best, in my opinion.
As is the 3rd LOTR (Return of the King).

If we're counting Star Wars as 2 separate trilogies then Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) is the best of the 'new' trilogy too.

I cant think of any others that I would without a doubt say the 3rd is the best, but there would be a few others that people have already mentioned which i wouldnt necessarily disagree with.

Ocean's thirteen

I'm kidding, that shit was horrible.

On topic:
Underworld rise of the lycans. Technically it's a prequel but still. I rather enjoyed the first underworld. The second underworld sucks great big donkey balls (who am I quoting here?). Rise of the lycans was nice.

The godfather part 3?

Transformers part 3. The only reason we watch those movies is to see stuff getting blown up. They certainly do that in the third instalment (if nothing else?).
