This one's easy. It was in Battlestar Galactica when....
after a successful mission Boomer goes up to the bridge and is welcomed cheered by one and all. Then, Adama reaches out with his hand to offer a congratulatory hand shake. As Boomer walks over, smiling from ear to ear, she begins to reach out towards Adama's hand to complete the gesture. It is at this point that, almost too quickly for it to register, you see that she is in fact holding a gun in that hand, with which she proceeds to shoot Adama in the chest. General panic and disbelief fill the room. I literally said, "Damn! What the hell just happened?"

End of Buffy season 2. Damn!

Well, I don't actually say damn, because I'm English. I think I probably shouted 'crumpets!'

1995... "Internet" was the BIG buzzword and was starting to inflate its huge bubble... watching a TV "documentary" about the 'net.

Various "knowledgable" people had been given questions about the 'net and what it would mean for the future. Very stylish and "glossy" program, and all the interviewees were very enthusiastic about the Internet, speaking only in positive terms of what a revolution this was (remember: this was before the general public realized there was porn and pedophiles on the net).

I had been in the net for two years by then... got net access when I enrolled at the university. And quite frankly, not even the porn was any good on the net back then. WWW was a joke and no useful services existed except perhaps Webcrawler or Altavista which was great to find uselessness with. The hottest thing you could have on your webpage back then was a music clip playing in the background (one would have thought MySpace would have learned the lesson... bah, kids today).

So I thought this TV program was bollocks. Massive amounts of gloss over massive amounts of dross. An advert to go get yourself a modem and a Windows 95 computer. Boooring!!

Then came the "Damn!!!"-moment. It wasn't BAM in my face or anything but instead very very subtly. Each section in the program was bookended, and each such transfer from one segment to the next had music playing in the background. The music was kind of low key... not really cutting though unless you deliberately listened to it. But I did... and I recognized the tune: Bruce Springsteen - 57 Channels... and I just folded over in laughter. Someone on that program knew excatly what the Internet was about in 1995... and that guy/gal had set the music just perfectly. :D

The earliest shock moment I can remember was being wowed when the Evil Green ranger appeared on the show Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. He defeated the rangers so easily and it was awesome when he finally joined the team.

At the beginning of The Descent
when they hit that pick-up head on and a metal rod goes through that guys head.

In Series 7: The Contenders
when that guy beats that teenage girl to death with the metal stick thing in the mall & all her parents can do is watch in horror & scream. I think the sound effects & the fact it wasn't overdone made it so much more brutal.
Hear's the clip [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4MrZrE4ewk] but it's very powerful, so be warned.
.

Rambo 4/ John Rambo. There's a lot of these moments & most of them are cool, but
where you see the soldier bayonet & lift up the baby on the end of his rifle & throw it like a piece of rubbish.

Being English, I also don't really say damn, just fuck or shit, or if it's really bad like when Sid Vicious broke his leg [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ_RR9WjUlI], then fuuuckkkk.

Is that Contender's show similar in premise to like, Battle Royale?

Also if you think the Sid Vicious thing was bad, check This [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPsYPKotBT8&feature=related] out.

[ spoiler ]

[ / spoiler ]

No spaces in between anything, text inbetween the two spoiler tags. You could've learned this by quoting someone who had spoilers and looking at what they typed also.

Ares Tyr,

Yeah I seen that one before, it's similar to this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=888JHYfoHfA].
Personally I think the wrestling one is worse, since Sid is over 300lbs so I'd imagine the pain & damage would be worse as there would be more weight on the leg, plus no one is actually suppose to get hurt in wrestling. But then again his boot supported his leg a bit.

This fuck up [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO_qFMo6hRo&feature=related] however, evoked a lot of bad feeling in me, including guilt & memories of when I accidentally broke a girl in Judo class.

Series 7: The Contenders [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0251031/] has a similar premise to Battle Royal, but is much sicker.

It organised by a reality TV show & is done purely for public entertainment, & isn't secluded, it happens in everyday life. The contenders are chosen at random & they have no choice in the matter, & no warning either, just a knock at the door, the film crew gives them a gun & they have to murder people & fight for their lives, plus everyone is watching it just like any other reality TV show.

I also thinks it's more disturbing than Battle Royale because it you don't get the detachment you get with Japan in the future, it happens in everyday normal America & looks like any other reality TV show.

What? Picard dies in X-men 3? I'm not sure I want to see the film now that I know he dies...

You just ruined the film for me, cheers big-ears :-(

Damn, why haven't I seen this show? It looks so awesome. I love it just by premise.

And I've seen the kickboxing one before also. That would suck to have happen... Man.

Another similar oh DAMN moment in MMA is the Randleplex [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSGAtH8KqAg], since when you first see it you can't understand how his neck isn't broken, nevermind the fact that it hardly even stuns Fedor.

I've found my favourite Oh Damn! moment in MMA [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOlo9K8qMdI], this is so funny, Bas & Stephen's commentary makes it hilarious, the jokers, as do the movie sound effects Bas is making. Classic.

I've seen that first one also. Fedor is inhuman. Him and Anderson Silva stand on another level above basically every other fighter (and human being) alive.

Wow... I haven't seen that before. I've seen some nasty mouses (or Rats even) on people's eyes but never that big on their forehead, haha. "It's like the movie Scanners or something! Some Alien's gonna pop outta his head!"

Have you seen this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQJ8fKTmw8E]? Bodog women's, its pretty bad also. I saw that live, though. I was watching the fight on TV and I went "OH SHIT!". Rosi Sexton was crying in her corner because she felt bad, her trainer(/boyfriend?) was holding her head so she wouldn't see what had happened.

Tommomi wanted a rematch afterwards, which speaks alot for how tough that chick is.

RE: Branko Cikatic v Ralph White - I just love how Bas & Stephen are joking around after it happened, even though it looks pretty serious. Stephen's Burgess Meridith impression is classic. "Cut it Rocky, cut it!"

When Stephen said "It's good thing John McCain didn't see this fight". Was he referring to the same John McCain who is running for president? Was he the Jack Thompson of MMA?

Shit man, that woman's injury seemed bad, even worse because of how much she was screaming (understandable). The commentary said it was dislocated, which isn't as bad if it had snapped, but still, ouch.

It reminds me of how I dislocated me knee, picking someone up & in a fireman's carry & due to an unlucky freak positioning of angles, all our bodyweight caused my kneecap to pop out completely to one side & my femur smashed into my tibia, shattering both bones. Talk about snap, crackle & POP!
