I'm gonna be honest, I've never liked MovieBob nor his content. I rarely agree with his opinions as they generally come from the perspective of someone who has a great deal of nostalgia for the 1980's(when he grew up) and a lot of unreasonable hatred for the 1990's/early 2000's(when I grew up) which led to me finding him disagreeable, so his departure from the site doesn't sadden me much.

With that said, I wish him all the best luck in the future. Disliking what someone has said before on the internet is not grounds for wishing anything negative on his person, no matter how much I disagree with what he may say.

Good riddance. He hasn't put anything out of quality in a while anyways. I won't miss him but hey best of luck in his future. He might be abrasive and idiotic but I don't wish anything bad on him.

That sucks. I always liked his movie reviews and the comics stuff he wrote about too. Hopefully he is able to find a job soon.

Seriously, what's next? Yatzee leaving too? I mean Bob provided two videos and aswell his articles and it is worrying that there have no new shows/ videos to replaces the ones that have left/ leaving like LRR even since that Extra Credits fiasco. Heck we no longer get any video reviews either!

Eh, the only reason I ever watched any of Bob's content was because I was already coming to the escapist and it just happened to be there, and would only take 5 minutes of my time to watch. If he's leaving I certainly won't take any time to actually search out his content.

I'll still kind of miss his incite into comic books though, that's something I'm mostly unfamiliar with and he made it very digestible and easy to understand. Couldn't agree with most of his movie reviews though, nor a lot of his political leanings or his abrasive personality in general.

Good riddance for all I care. He's too much of a fanboy to be a good critic. The conscendence is strong in him.

b) They're moving away from movie and tv stuff.
Maybe? I don't know if you've seen the weekly schedule at the bottom of the home page but it looks like the staff has purged all the TV review shows. And now Bob's are going.

Not gonna miss him. Don't miss Jim either. All I care about is Yahtzee. And the only one I really miss is Lisa :(

Not that much of a surprise to be frank. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that noticed, but he seems to have been making less content lately. His twitter rants didn't help much either (in fact, there is no doubt in my mind that is the primary reason for this happening). I just hope they can find appropriate content to fill the void.
Read his blog. Him getting fired from the Escapist has got nothing to do with Twitter and any other hashtags. (http://moviebob.blogspot.ca/2015/02/all-good-things.html?spref=tw)

Also the Escapist is really bleeding. Badly. Only thing worth now is Yahtzee, Critical Miss and LRR.

So, that leaves Yahtzee alone to hold up the site.
But to be honest, I won't shed a tear for Movie Bob. Ever since GG started, he just went down hill in quality and my respect for him plummeted something hardcore.

See here's the thing, Bob is the last person to trust about that. If I was in his position, and it was because of my twitter rants that I got fired, I'd probably deny it being the case.

I'll wait for The Escapist to make an official announcement as for the reason.

Read that. But...but why? I would like some sort of reason. He's one of the main reasons I come to this site. Now all that's left is Zero Punctuation, and Experience Points (when it's not about tech stuff that I don't understand). I mean, even the news bit articles have been coming in less and less, and even those don't seem to focus on games as much as in the old days. I hate to jump on this band wagon, because I really didn't see it until now, but it does feel like the escapist is dying, or at least withering. I don't understand what's happening. Why would they fire MovieBob? Yeah, he seems to get a lot of heat in the comments, but there are just as many, if not more, people out there who enjoy his work.

Well, this is surprising. I mean, I guess the writing's been on the wall for a while, but even so...

Though has Miracle of Sound left as well? I noticed that Gavin's been left out of the lists of good content that's still around, and admittedly I mostly follow him on Youtube and Bandcamp now, so if there's been an announcement I must have missed it.

Who knows. To be honest I don't really care that much. I did enjoy his reviews and ideas in his videos (most of them anyways). So yea, now I am just stumped at why they would do that.

Edit: Most likely cause of financial difficulties to be honest. That is one of the main reasons why corporations downsize, usually.

No, he's still here, but I heard secondhand that he said somewhere that he was looking into crowdfunding or getting work elsewhere. Critical Miss guys said they were looking into crowdfunding as a contingency back on all the layoffs three weeks ago.
Place is drying up then. And between this and the recent exodus from Channel Awesome, it feels like there's some kind of shift coming, but I just don't know what it is.

Oh well. I come here mostly for the forums anyway.
