Not that I want to tear the nicely healed flesh from the old wound, but I finally decided to watch the video that started the controversy about the dying gaming PC... I have NEVER seen ANYONE with that kind of skill in invoking nerd rage. Right from the moment he mentioned gaming was an accessory he had me wanting to hit the forums ranting about how my old 386 was exclusively for games and I wouldn't have owned a computer if it wasn't for Doom, Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Sky Roads, the entire Shareware Heaven CD... And then, watching his comments on the Uncharted movie... how I so desperately wanted to chew the ear off the nearest person with ravings like "If there isn't enough storyline to make into a movie they should leave the poor game well alone!" and "What does he mean the original details taken from the game don't matter?? If it's a movie about a game, it should be recognizable as that game! It needs to have all the appropriate details and this and that..." Have you EVER seen ANYONE that can invoke nerd rage so easily and skillfully?

The "Big Picture" bit I disliked the most was the one dubbed "Correctitude". His whole rant came off as "I'm offended, stop saying things that offend me". I think that if you can't joke about some things, you can't joke about anything.

Yeah. He seems to believe that his knowledge of movies and comic books can carry over to computers and consoles, and usually ends up making several ill-informed statements in the process. Since everyone seems to agree on the credibility of his PC/console commentary, I'm usually not too bothered by it.

Controversy sells. This site seems to have several commentators that specialize in getting large amounts of nerd-hate mail. That being said, I like MovieBob and while I disagree with him on quite a few points, I hope he continues to do shows that let him get his rant-on.

The diffrence between a joke and just being a prick is a fine one, most people however over shoot spectaually.

If making a joke about something sensative, consider this "am I george carlin or bill hicks" if the answer is no, then you will probably just be offensive.

Well that was so vague, it became telling. I think you may have missed about all of the video though.

I think you may be taking some of the things he says too seriously. I said MAY, ok? Whats with getting all angry about something I said? I'm a no body, get a grip!

*ahem*

I think some people take what he and other ranters say too seriously. I know that when I'm ranting, about 50% or more of the stuff is over-blown and over-done, all in an effort to make MY point seem as valid as possible. I don't agree with a lot of what MovieBob says. I don't agree with most the things ANY ranter says, but at times they are spot on, and usually a good ranter gets me thinking about whatever issue they we're talking about, so that I can form my own opinion on the matter. MovieBob is, in my opinion, a good ranter.

He is NOT the most nerd-rage inducing person out there though, that is for sure. I see those that spring to mind most readily are already on the list...

I'm not stating fact, but opinion. So is MovieBob. State your own opinion in the reply thread, but don't get all angry about it, it's just opinions!

OK, first off, if you have nerd-rage to vent, vent it in the threads on the offending videos. The mods don't take kindly to angry posts in other sections of the forum targeting content or its creators.

But to indulge your post's subject, that's what Big Picture is meant for: a soapbox for Bob on this site to say difficult and controversial things to nerds about nerd culture in order to present things from a different perspective. It's one big Devil's Advocate of a show. Sometimes gamers need to think outside the narrow gaming box to see the "Big Picture" of issues in gamer-related industries today, whether the parties involved are right or not, and I applaud Bob for having the balls to say what needs to be said, even if certain sections of the gamer public don't like hearing it.
Don't like what he has to say? Join the discussion. State and defend your position there. You may well have a good point, but if Bob presents his POV that you disagree with and instead of rebutting you come here to whine about it, wouldn't Bob "win" the discussion by forfeit?

Bob is a fanboy wannabe intellectual. His movie reviews are fine - though always overly generous to anything sci fi. And his thoughts about games always come down on the side of the Wii and Nintendo series's.

The real scumbagness comes out in his thoughts on society. Heck, watch Magneto was Right to see his ideas on the proper place pretentious "nerds" deserve to hold. His constant stereotypical "dumb jock" image speaks volumes about his sad insecurity.

No way.

The "stealth clown" thing COULD NOT have been intentional. That's why it's so ingenious.

OT: Eh, Soulja Boy or whatever? I mean, yeah, he did troll all of gaming's community.

There are many things Bob says that I agree with. There are many things he says that I vehemently disagree with. I enjoy listening to his opinions or "rants". Just like anyone else, he has his own thoughts, and I enjoy hearing them. As do many others it would seem, or they would stop listening and watching.

People always have an excuse to bash something or someone, it's funny to me how pissed people get over someone else's just as valid opinion.

I may not agree with all of his opinions, but (with the exception of the first episode) at least he gives enough reason for me to respect his opinion, and I usually do agree with the general idea. Still, the last two weeks have been... interesting.

For the PC episode: The instant I saw the title, I knew it wasn't going to end well. With a title like THAT, as well as the first minute of the vid, on a site with one of the highest amount of the PC Master Race on the internet? There's poking the beehive, but what he did was smack the beehive down and shove his head inside. The worst part is that I agree with the general idea, but the way he worded it was awful.

The new episode is what suprised me: The fact is simple: Uncharted wouldn't make a good movie. It works best as a game. I was expecting that. What I WASN'T expecting was how the community just turned the whole thread into an "East vs West" debate. And nobody seemed to notice, or going by one particular post, even care.

As for nerd rage: Jack Thompson. Professional troll.

I didn't come here to nerd rage. I hope that's not what I've done... I just wanted to discuss nerd rage invoking people and nerd rage in general. And I've seen some great posts about that topic :)

Yes, ever since people started posting @Moviebob threads i've been coming in with a post that more or less amounts to "YHBT lol".

I've never watched any of his stuff for the same reason I don't click every random youtube link someone posts, but you can just tell just from the replies he gets that he's pretty much just trolling.

I can honestly say Moviebob has never made me "Nerd-rage" to be honest in terms of videos and content like that he is probably my favourite on this site.

Most of Moviebobs more controversial things e.g. the PC gaming thing can be brought down with simple logic.

Whenever he rages on anything i like (comparing Halo to fascism for example) first i

Moveiebob has is own opinions, people should feel free to disagree with them. Sometimes i do disagree with him but it hardly bothers me. What does bother me is people whom seem t get annoyed at Moviebob for having opinions that they disagree with...i find that a bit irrational tbh.
