So, my friends and I got to see The Desolation of Smaug today... and, just to cut it short, I was the only one in the group that hasn't seen An Unexpected Journey beforehand... I originally was going to wait until the Hobbit trilogy came out on extended blu-ray and just marathon it like I did with the extended LOTR trilogy... Sure, I still remember how The Hobbit book went and already knew the reason why this was put into three movies, but considering what my friends thought of TDOS compared to AUJ, I kinda have an idea of what mindset to have once I see An Unexpected Journey... (even though I'll still be watch the extended version, anyway...)
Which got me thinking that this wasn't the first time I saw a movie out of its sequential/original order... I remember seeing Resident Evil: Apocalypse and X-2 in theaters before watching their prequel movie... I even saw Army of Darkness way before watching the original Evil Dead movie and Evil Dead 2...
So, has any of you seen a movie "sequel"[footnote]The reason for the quotations is because this can also apply to remakes and reboots... like Titanic or King Kong...[/footnote] before its original and/or prequel (unless it's Star Wars, then it would be like watching one of the prequel movies before one of the original movies, I guess)? I guess this can also apply to episodic shows (or shows that have time progression/continuity), when you think about it...
