For me it had to be The Matrix. The first was SOOOO good, the second was "eh" and the third was "what?"

Also, I wish Aliens vs Predator 2 was actually the first Aliens vs Predator. It was so much better than the first.

Well, I liked Shrek 2, but 3 and 4 were piles of ass. I was just talking to my manager about needless sequels, and now I can't remember jack. I know No more Heroes 2 sucked HORRIBLY.

I'm going to blow this topic into a whole other region and say that the Max Payne GAME didn't need a MOVIE.

I would say The Matrix is the most tragic victim followed by Star Wars and Conan The Barbarian.

The Matrix sequels were so bad I can't even watch the first one anymore.

The Star Wars prequels ruined Darth Vader, the most iconic character from the whole series, noted for all around badassery turned into a whiny *****.

Conan The Barbarian is everything good and righteous about sword and sorcery movies; Conan The Destroyer is everything wrong about them.

WAIT?! What? I've heard NOTHING but praise for that game.

OT:

We didn't need Speed 2. Speed 1 was pretty good.

On games: Bioshock didn't NEED one. But I like 2 all the same.

FF 7 didn't need the spinoffs, either. Not to mention FFX-2. I liked X-2 though. Great "class" system.

Crash Bandicoot did not need to be continued after the original trilogy (not much plot, but the rest were AWFUL)

Having said that, I adore Twinsanity

Highlander.

Have you seen Highlander 2? Ugh...just...wow, changing Scots into aliens? Really?!?
I thought mediclorians destroyed a series mythos... oh god...

For me, Silence of the Lambs.

There is to much of a good thing, and a role that got an oscar, and commanded the entire film, that was only 16 minutes of on screen preformance, making a whole movie on that is supersaturation

Shrek 2 was actually an enjoyable film. 3 and 4, however, were train crashes.

And I'm going to call any horror movie. Seriously, we need more slasher films?

Read the books. Read them now. Although even then Hannibal seems a little odd (as in the book. The character is meant to be odd). And avoid Hannibal Rising, in which Hannibal goes all Anakin Skywalker on us. The back story was fine as presented in the original 3 stories. A full-blown prequel wasn't required... (Note: I still haven't seen the films. I just know that the books were awesome, and a lot of people aren't aware that the films were based on them.)

OT: Star Wars prequels. Need I say more?

Examples would be Shrek, Saw, Countless Disney movies, or any horror titles.
With Saw, I actually thought the second was better, the third was stupid and pointless and after that I didn't watch anymore.

OT: Like what everyone else said, The Matrix. Also the new Indiana Jones, The Fast and The Furious (third was just horrid), xXx (especially without Vin Diesel in it), and I hope they don't make a sequel to Zombieland. Someone I used to work with was saying they needed to since it was good. Yeah, it was a good movie but a sequel will completely ruin it.

Since these haven't been said yet: Jaws 2 and 3 shouldn't have been made, and nor should Free Willy 2 and 3...

The Matrix was bastardized by the sequels.

The Blues Brothers was perfectly fine without Blues Brothers 2000.

And Donnie Darko definitely shouldn't have been cursed with that shit sequel.
There was a sequel to Blues Brothers? About what?

I know it has not been released yet, but really, do we need a sequel to Independance Day?

I'd also have to put my vote in for the matrix. The only good thing that came out of that series was the first move and The Animatrix.
