The Twilight sequels. But then, whether we even needed the first one is a hotly contested debate.
*whacks upside head with 2X4* Do not *whack* mention *whack* Twilight! *whack*
You haters *whack* are far more *whack* annoying *whack* than the fans! *whack whack*

OT: There are many movie sequels that were unnecessary, most notably all the Disney ones that have already been mentioned.

Caddy Shack. That movie was one of the best comedies ever. It did not need a sequel. What were they thinking when they decided to make a sequel to Caddy Shack without Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, or Rodney Dangerfield? Were the execs high or something? What the fuck were they thinking?

The Matrix sequels didn't need to be made. In fact they're the only two movies I've seen that have ever confused me.

Police academy. The first film was funny enough for a hundred comedies. Every sequal was about as painful as a thousand Justin Biebers singing in your ear.

I hope they don't make a sequel to Zombieland. Someone I used to work with was saying they needed to since it was good. Yeah, it was a good movie but a sequel will completely ruin it.
I heard they wanted to make it a big franchise including sequels, which I don't think is necessary at all.

They also wanted do something along the lines of a TV series. Given the profile of the actors in the movie, they'd be different actors in the TV series, at least that way if it turns out really bad you could disassociate them in your mind.

OT: I'm pretty sure that everything that I've thought of has already been mentioned here. This trend of making film trilogies is something that I hope folk will get over.

Although Mike Milar is making another group of Kick Ass comics, there doesn't need to be a sequel to it

Robocop:
first they took all the human emotional components which were achieved in the first one, then they exchanged the subtle social critic and replaced it with Frank Miller near-Fascism. We don't want to talk about what happened after Film two.

Crank
Hey, if you just redo scenes from the first one, why don't you do it good? The cooling box, whose content we never see and the Nintendo-intro were cool though.

I hear they want to make another Eragon. I dearly hope I misheared because that'd be awful.
well there were more books in the series, so it would be reasonable for movies to be made of them.
Sure, but seeing as the first one already fucked up the story I don't want the second and third book filmed... ever.

It'd be interesting to see how they would salvage the mess created by the first movie though.

The Karate Kid.

Even though I actually prefer the sequels over the original (all of them fantastic movies by the way), it really didn't need them. However, what really grinds my gears is "The Next Karate Kid." I mean seriously, WTF!?!

I plan on seeing the new one, and i expect it too be good, but I just wish it wasn't called "The Karate Kid," especially since it is in no way related to the other movies.

I know they tried that with Tremors and it was bad. The went in a completely different direction from the movies and it seemed like a totally different series set in the same city.
